We have some upcoming closures that could affect your plans in the coming days.

The License Bureau and Passport Office are closed tomorrow, Saturday, September 5, and Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. If you need tabs or other services before Tuesday when we reopen, stop in today before 4:30 p.m.

All City business offices are closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day but will be back to regular hours Tuesday, September 8.

The New Brighton Community Center and Eagles Nest will be open on September 5 & 6. However, they will be closed Monday, September 7 through Friday, September 11 for annual maintenance. Make sure you stop by when we reopen the building on Saturday, September 12!

As always, 911 and emergency services will continue to be available. Thank you, first responders!

Working America has notified the City that its canvassers expect to be in the greater New Brighton area starting September 1 through at least December 31, 2026. Canvassing typically takes place between 3pm and 9pm.

Working America is a chartered affiliate of the AFL-CIO and a not-for-profit 501(c)(5) labor organization with more than five million associate members. According to the organization, its work includes education and legislative and political advocacy related to issues affecting working families, including jobs, education, living wages, secure pensions, affordable health care, and retirement security.

According to Working America, their canvassers are professionally trained and may at times carry prominently displayed picture identification cards or wear red safety vests that display their affiliation with Working America. The organization states that its representatives are conducting a membership and educational outreach campaign and are not selling products.

This notice is being shared to help residents recognize this activity if they see canvassers in their neighborhood.

New Brighton has the tastiest tap water! Out of 22 water samples tested at the Minnesota State Fair Eco Experience, New Brighton took home the top honor.

Safe, great-tasting water does not happen by accident. It takes a dedicated team working behind the scenes every day to maintain our water system and deliver reliable drinking water to our community.

Cheers to our Public Works team for helping deliver great-tasting water to our community every day!

In a totally subjective and definitely not scientific contest, State Fair goers judged the Minnesota community with the best tap water.

The City is accepting applications for several volunteer City Commissioner positions. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas, represent your community, and help shape decisions that affect New Brighton.

Open positions include:
• Two adult seats on the Economic Development Commission
• One student seat on the Planning Commission
• One adult seat on the Public Safety Commission

Applications are open through August 30, 2026.

The New Brighton City Council will meet tonight, August 25th, for a regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at New Brighton City Hall, located at 803 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, MN 55112.

Regular Meeting Schedule: City Council meetings typically occur on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

Meet New Brighton's Newest Youth Community Connectors!

This year's cohort brings together 12 students from Irondale, Mounds View, and St. Anthony Village high schools. They will spend the year learning about local government, connecting with community members, and strategizing to ensure our City's services and programming are inclusive and accessible. Welcome aboard!

New Brighton Fall Clean-Up Day is a great opportunity to clear out the clutter!

Bring your unwanted household items to the City of New Brighton's annual Clean-Up Day for convenient disposal on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the New Brighton Maintenance Facility (700 5th Street NW, New Brighton, MN 55112).

NOTE: the printed version of this flyer that was sent to residents contained a misprint. Free paper shredding only occurs at the Public Safety Building on Clean-Up Day, not every day of the week.

Residents can dispose of a wide variety of non-hazardous items, including:
• Furniture and household items
• Electronics
• Appliances
• Tires
• Scrap metal
• Vehicle loads of miscellaneous items
• And so much more!

Disposal fees apply. Vehicle loads start at $38, with individual pricing for select items such as mattresses, couches, electronics, appliances, and tires. Check out the attached poster for full price list.

Please note:
• Cash or checks only. Credit and debit cards are not accepted.
• Household hazardous waste (HHW) is not accepted.
• If you're unsure whether an item can be accepted, please ask staff before unloading.
