The TRIO Upward Bound Math Science Program of Central Connecticut State University strengthens the educational, scientific and cultural foundations of motivated high school students from low-income and or first-generation-to-college background. --What is UBMS?--
Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) is a rigorous program for students of New Britain High School (grades 9-12) interested in pursuing a ca
reer in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM). UBMS serves 60 high school students from low-income families, high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree, and/or classify as low-income, and first-generation military veterans preparing to enter post-secondary education. In addition to counseling and tutoring, students receive information about college admissions requirements, scholarships, and various student financial aid programs. We provide services that assist students in graduating from high school and enrolling in the college or university of their choice. This concentrated effort helps young people to better understand their educational opportunities and career options.
--Ultimate Goal--
Our ultimate goal is to increase the rate at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education. UBMS will provide fundamental support to participants in preparation for college entrance.
