New Britain Police Academy Session 26 began on September 19th. Over the past several weeks recruits have begun their training in the classroom, had practical skills days, and started some basic defensive tactics.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and the New Britain Police Department will be collecting food donations. We are thankful we can be of service to our community in this way.

Asking how you can support? You can find us outside Costco (405 Hartford Road) on the following weekend dates: 11/,1-11/2, 11/8-11/9, 11/15-11/16, and 11/22-11/23, from 11AM - 3PM.

Can’t make those dates or times? Donations can be dropped off in our front lobby any day or time!

Fore please! The New Britain Police Athletic League (PAL), in collaboration with the First Tee of Connecticut, wrapped up their Fall Golf Program! Over the past 6 weeks, Sergeant Dave McDermott and First Tee instructed over 30 kids, teaching them about the fundamentals of the game of golf.

This past Monday, our young golfers got to take the skills learned and put them to the test at the First Tee of Connecticut’s Learning Links Course in Cromwell! A big thanks to Stanley Golf Course and First Tee of CT for all of their help! Follow us for future information about our spring golf program!

This coming Saturday (10/25) is the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day! Members of the department will be standing by in our community room to facilitate this effort. There are no requirements or information needed. This is an anonymous process with no questions asked. Stop in and drop-off any unneeded medication for appropriate disposal.

Over the last several months, the New Britain Police Department Special Services Unit (SSU) has been busy investigating serious concerns across our community.

Their efforts have resulted in the seizure of thirteen Fi****ms, close to ten kilos of Co***ne and fifteen pounds of ma*****na, four motor vehicles, and thousands of dollars in suspected drug proceeds. We cannot thank this dedicated group of Detectives enough for their efforts.

Last Friday, October 10th, Session 25 of the New Britain Basic Recruit Satellite Academy graduated from their training. 29 new officers are ready to begin field training at their respective departments. Please welcome Officer Anyafulu, Officer Caraballo, Officer Collins, Officer Jasinski, Officer Jenkins and Officer Romero-Garcia to New Britain! We wish you all long, safe, and successful careers.

With the help of other local law enforcement, Jonatan Nanita was taken into custody this evening. Further details regarding tonight’s arrest will be made available at a later time. Our agencies would like to thank all those who attempted to assist us with sharing information leading up to this apprehension.

The New Britain Police Athletic League (PAL) Golf Program was in full swing yesterday at Stanley Golf Course. First Tee Instructor and Youth Bureau Sergeant McDermott along side our PAL Officers had a blast getting these kids comfortable on the greens. It’s no wonder this program keeps growing and continues to be a success.
