We were happy to be part of the first session of the June Parent Education Series with the New Britain Recreation and Community Services Department! 🚑❤️

It was great to see such a strong turnout and connect with parents on topics that help keep families safe and healthy. Programs like these are a wonderful opportunity to engage with our community beyond emergency response and share valuable information that can make a difference.

We're looking forward to returning for the next session on June 11th and continuing the conversation. These sessions are free, childcare is provided, and everyone is welcome!

Thank you to everyone who attended, and to the New Britain Recreation and Community Services Department for the opportunity to be part of such a fantastic program. We hope to see you on June 11th!

This afternoon, New Britain EMS responded to an incident at our headquarters located at 225 Arch Street in New Britain, where a vehicle struck the building.

No New Britain EMS employees were injured as a result of the incident. Additionally, there was no interruption to EMS operations, and our ability to respond to 911 emergency medical service requests remained unaffected.

🚑📚 As we move towards the end of the school year, we want to take a pause to recognize our fantastic staff and the collaborative work they've done this year with the students, teachers, program managers, and administrators at New Britain High School.

Throughout the school year, New Britain EMS has had the opportunity to partner with New Britain High School in a variety of ways:

✅ Teaching Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) courses during both the Fall and Spring semesters

✅ Conducting a full-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Drill alongside New Britain High School students, New Britain Police Department, New Britain Fire Department, and the New Britain Public Safety Telecommunications Center

✅ Supporting the Public Safety Academy

✅ Providing CPR and Stop the Bleed training through ReadyCT Career Pathways

✅ Participating in Junior Achievement mock interviews and resume reviews

✅ Delivering CPR and Stop the Bleed training through the YES (Youth Employability Skills) Academy

These interactive opportunities have enabled us to engage with hundreds of students at the high school. At New Britain EMS, we make it a priority to invest in the education, workforce development, and public safety training opportunities to prepare the next generation to serve our community.

In 2027 New Britain EMS is turning 50 — and we want to celebrate the way this organization deserves: with the real stories, the real faces, and the real history that shaped 50 years of answering the call.

Generations of providers have come and gone through these doors. Uniforms and patches have changed but ask anyone who has ever worked here, and they'll tell you the same thing — there is something genuinely special about this place. That shared experience doesn't fade with time, and it doesn't belong to any one era. It belongs to all of us.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford designated EMS Week™ to honor EMS professionals and their crucial work in our communities. This week unites local communities and emergency medical personnel to recognize those who deliver lifesaving services daily.

Every EMS clinician carries a call permanently, not for heroism but for its humanity—like a child whose breathing stabilized or a stranger who chose to trust them. These moments may not make headlines, yet they significantly impact lives and outcomes, extending beyond vital signs.

Today's EMS providers leverage advanced skills and tools, offering innovative care across urban, rural, and tribal areas, such as prehospital ultrasound, blood programs, and STEMI and stroke recognition. These advancements contribute to better outcomes before patients even arrive at the hospital.

Improving Outcomes, Together is a collective effort that includes investing in fair pay, safe staffing, mental health resources, responsive leadership, and professional growth opportunities.

This week, we honor those behind the patch and reaffirm our commitment to improving outcomes collaboratively.
