🚨 SCAM ALERT – FAKE PENNDOT TEXT MESSAGES 🚨

Hatfield Police Department is warning residents about a text message scam currently circulating that falsely claims to be from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

These messages often:

* Claim you owe money for a traffic violation or toll
* Threaten license suspension, registration suspension, or legal action
* Urge you to click a link and make immediate payment

👉 THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK.

According to state officials, PennDOT does NOT send text messages regarding violations, fines, or payments. All official communication is sent through the U.S. Mail.

These phishing (“smishing”) texts are designed to create urgency and trick you into providing personal or financial information.

đź”´ What to do if you receive this message:

* Do NOT click any links
* Do NOT provide personal or payment information
* Delete the message immediately
* Report it as spam
