🚧 Road Work begins today, Monday, May 4.

🚧 ROAD WORK AHEAD 🚧

Coffee County Highway Department will begin a roadway resurfacing project on CR-114 starting Monday, May 4, weather dependent. The project will begin at the Wayne Sanderson Plant and extend northeasterly approximately 5 miles to the CR-105 intersection in New Hope.

This project is expected to last several weeks. During this time, motorists may experience delays, lane closures, and increased construction traffic.

Please use caution when traveling through the work zone and help protect the safety of our construction crews.

🚧 Work Zone Safety Awareness 🚧
Last week marked National Work Zone Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of protecting those who work on our roadways every day.

Earlier this month, Governor Kay Ivey signed Senate Bill 341 – the Alabama Work Zone Safety Act, sponsored by Coffee County’s Senator Josh Carnley, into law. This legislation introduces new measures aimed at improving safety and accountability in work zones across the state, including a pilot program for automated speed enforcement in certain areas.

These updates are designed to better protect workers, motorists, and communities by strengthening safety practices and enforcement on Alabama’s roadways.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and continue practicing safe driving habits—especially in active work zones.

🚧 REMINDER: ROAD CLOSURE 🚧

This is a reminder that work on CR-544 begins today. Crews are starting at Site 1 this morning.

CR-544 will be closed to thru traffic from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at active work locations. Local traffic only will be allowed, and there will be no detour route in place.

Please refer to the previously posted map for closure locations and plan your travel accordingly. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the roadway.

The Coffee County Highway Department wants to inform the public of an upcoming roadway closure on CR-544 beginning Monday, April 20, 2026.

CR-544 will be closed at 3 separate locations daily from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for drainage improvements in preparation for resurfacing. This closure is weather dependent and the road will reopen by 3:00 PM each day, weather permitting.

There will be no detour route in place. Local traffic only will be allowed during closure hours. Please refer to the attached map for the specific closure locations along CR-544.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to improve your roads. Please plan your travel accordingly and allow extra time during these hours.
