Service Tips

**Garbage Definition** Garbage is defined as all debris accumulated within the household that is in need of disposal. Garbage does not include household furnishings, carpets, remodeling debris, appliances, batteries, tires, and propane tanks. Always place your cart out the night prior to your scheduled service day regardless of a holiday — collection times can range between 5:00 am-5

:00 pm, Monday-Thursday. When placing the cart in your service area, face the opening of the cart toward the roadway with the handle facing away from the roadway. Please ensure your cart is within 3 feet of the roadway for the automated truck to reach the cart, make sure your cart is 3-4 feet away from your mailbox, fencing, vehicle, additional carts, or any other obstruction which could prevent the truck from accessing your cart. Our drivers will not service your cart if it is too close to an obstruction to avoid damaging your property. Our drivers will not collect any waste that is not in the cart. Due to our automated trucks, our drivers do not exit their trucks to pick up excess or bulk waste. Excess or bulk waste can be taken to the Coffee County Landfill. All garbage shall be bagged in plastic bags, tied off, and placed loosely in assigned Coffee County Garbage Carts. We will not be responsible for the spillage of garbage due to winds, stray animals, or carts being improperly placed on the county right-of-way. Unauthorized containers will not be picked up by Coffee County Solid Waste. It is the responsibility of the resident to remove the cart from the right-of-way and protect carts from abuse or misuse. In the event of damage due to negligence (ie, throwing hot ashes in the cart or not removing the cart from the right-of-way promptly), the resident will be charged a $75.00 replacement fee. If the cart becomes damaged from normal use, a repair will be made by Coffee County or a replacement will be issued. If the cart is stolen from the resident's property the resident must contact Coffee County Sheriff's Department and Coffee County Solid Waste. (We must have the police report to replace it without the $75.00 fee)

The Solid Waste Department asks all residents to keep their garbage containers clean by washing them with mild soap and water. You may also sanitize and control odors by rinsing the garbage container with a diluted bleach solution and rinsing it thoroughly.

🗑️ Rural Community Disposal Bin – Friday, July 24! 🗑️

It's time to clean out those garages, storage buildings, closets, and even your yard!

Our next Rural Community Disposal Bin will be available Friday, July 24, at the New Hope Senior Center from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This is a FREE service for Coffee County Solid Waste customers!

Now's the perfect time to get rid of those items you've been meaning to throw away—whether it's a box of old cassette tapes, that broken lamp you never got around to fixing, or other unwanted household clutter. It's also a great opportunity to clear out those piles of yard debris and freshen up your property.

Please note: If you need assistance unloading heavy or bulky items, please bring someone with you to help lift them.

Take advantage of this free opportunity to declutter your home, clean up your yard, and help keep Coffee County beautiful. We look forward to seeing you there!

Before you load up the truck with that mysterious pile that’s been “waiting until next weekend” since February… we’ve got good news!

🚛 Coffee County Landfill will be OPEN regular hours on Friday, July 3, 2026!

So go ahead and toss the junk, reclaim your garage, and make room for all the patriotic festivities.

Then spend the weekend celebrating America’s 250th birthday the right way—with family, friends, good food, fireworks, and hopefully keeping all ten fingers attached. 🎆😅

Our crews spend their days keeping things clean, running, and functioning smoothly—rain or shine, heat or cold—and this delicious surprise was the perfect way to say THANK YOU.

♻️ Happy National Waste & Recycling Workers Week! ♻️

Let's take a moment to celebrate the people who deal with our garbage so we don't have to. They're up before the sun, brave questionable smells, and somehow manage to keep smiling while handling what the rest of us literally throw away.

Waste and recycling workers prove every day that one person's trash is... still trash, but they'll take care of it anyway.

So this week, give a wave, say thank you, and maybe make sure your trash can isn't doing that weird thing where the lid won't close because it's stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey.

To all our waste and recycling professionals: Thanks for picking up where the rest of us leave off. You're the real MVPs of curbside service!
