Alabama's new statewide notification system is officially LIVE! Visit ema.alabama.gov and click on ALalert to register.

This state system does not replace our local notification system here in Coffee County. This is in addition to our local system and is another way for the public to receive alerts in the event of disasters.

We continue to encourage you to have multiple, reliable ways to receive emergency alerts. This is another tool to add to your toolbox! 📱💻📻📺

Tuesday, 25-AUG-2026, ⚠ Interstate Travel Advisory ⚠

For those with interests or travelling near Shelby County, Ala. and I-65, see this incident update from Alabama EMA.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is aware that a piece of construction equipment struck the underside of CR-87 bridge over I-65 at Exit 234 in Shelby County shortly before 12pm today.

The southbound lanes of the interstate are currently shut down to allow crews to remove the concrete debris from the roadway. The CR-87 bridge is also currently closed to traffic.

ALDOT has crews on the scene to evaluate the bridge's structural integrity. I-65 will reopen as soon as safely possible.

A portion of CR 359 near AL 189 will be temporarily closed today while the Coffee County Highway Department performs road improvements. Consider using an alternate route if traveling in this area.
