Sign the petition to allow personal sustainable Pe**te cultivation to reduce the impact on endemic habitats!

Repost “Hi I'm Aikutzi American-Native Wixarika board member of Decriminalize Nature. (I do not speak for my tribe … I speak from my heart). As for me, every day, I worry of the survival of my people, our ancient traditions, our sacred sites and the survival of pe**te. There are MANY ways that indigenous and non-indigenous people can have plenty of access to this medicine if it is legal and can be cultivated OUTSIDE of the sacred indigenous pe**te lands. Why are these solutions not considered or considered a threat to pe**te? It is biased to just make the case that decriminalization will lead to all the outsiders coming into pe**te lands to loot the pe**te, which is already happening (legal and not legal). The real issue here is how to protect the seed and have people in need (including the NAC) grow their own, and not take any pe**te for their ceremonies from our Wixárika sacred pe**te lands in Mexico, as they have been known to be doing.

We all care about protecting pe**te and the earth that we all share and live on. Pe**te has much to teach us and the world, and those who understand the value of this sacred medicine should have access to it, instead of getting caught up in unnecessary drama that dishonors the spirit of this healing sacramental plant medicine.

Please support by signing this petition and sharing with friends and family.
Love,
Aikutzi”

Ma*****na Moment covers the unanimous decision by Arcata City Council to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi!

From the article "Danielle Daniel, lead organizer of Decriminalize Nature Humboldt , told Ma*****na Moment that this reform represents “a pivotal point in history by reclaiming our sovereign right to explore our consciousness, and to choose the path of healing that we see best fit for ourselves.”

“With decriminalization, Arcata residents will be able to ingest, gift, gather, grow, and share entheogens without fear of arrest,” she said. “By destigmatizing entheogens, the community will have more openness to conversing about the healing potential of psychoactive plants and fungi.”

We are thrilled for as Seattle becomes the largest city in the US to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi!

The fight in Seattle isn’t over - the criminalization of pe**te only puts the plant in further danger of poaching and extinction while criminalizing its use by those who need it.

Congratulations Seattle - and keep fighting for access to plant medicine.

Did you know that the DEA schedules psychedelic medicine like psilocybin and ayahuasca in the same category as he**in? If we were to go by the DEA’s system of scheduling drugs, we would have to believe that methamphetamine (Schedule II) is safer than magic mushrooms (Schedule I).

America’s policies on controlled substances are based on drug war propaganda and outdated claims that have been debunked by modern science. We are fighting for a world that chooses science over urban legends and prioritizes public health over profit.

Repost

Due to pressure from IPCI, Santa Cruz has RE-criminalized ALL cacti containing mescaline

Due to pressure from IPCI, an organization run by a person of European ancestry who is also a board member for the for-profit MAPS public benefit corporation, and funded by Dr. Bronner’s Soap Company and Riverstyx, (run by an heir to the United Parcel Service fortune) Santa Cruz has now REcriminalized ALL cacti containing mescaline.

IPCI owns one of only two Pe**te cultivating nurseries in the US. Why would their leaders prefer scarcity (stopping people from personal cultivation of pe**te) over abundance (encouraging as many people to cultivate pe**te to decrease pressures on endemic habitats)?

Rather than collaborate with the larger community and come up with a plan together to cultivate these sacred plants to help reduce the impact on endemic regions, these organizations would prefer recreating a punitive approach, where you go to jail for growing a plant.

We are running out of time to cultivate pe**te and reduce the impact on the endemic pe**te regions. What is IPCI's plan outside of advocating for criminalizing the cultivation, use, and possession of ALL cacti containing mescaline? How does this help?

It is good to honor cultural traditions with plant medicines. This is not the same as owning Nature, however. There are 26,000,000 Indigenous people in the US and Mexico. No individual or for profit corporation should get to decide who speaks for 26 million people, or all of humanity’s relationship to Nature.

How is claiming ownership over a plant different than trying to patent a plant?

And why do we keep finding MAPS people and Bronner involved every time we see efforts to restrict access for people to Nature?

Wouldn't you have rather spent the last 2.5 years planting pe**te seeds and finding ways to cultivate these sacred plants and reduce the impact on the endemic regions rather than fighting to keep them criminalized?

Help us push for Decriminalization of personal cultivation of pe**te to prevent it from going extinct in the wild.

While existing PTSD treatments are effective for some patients, the disorder by and large remains difficult to overcome with conventional psychotherapy and medication. Entheogens can offer a viable alternative with faster results and fewer side effects. Therapy with these substances may be available in the near future via large corporations like MAPS, but it will cost thousands of dollars. PTSD treatment with plant medicine will not be accessible until people are no longer prosecuted for seeking affordable healing within their own homes and communities.
