We are expecting a significant change in our weather by the end of this week.
Forecasts are calling for a dramatic drop in temperatures, with sub-freezing conditions expected in Montgomery County from Saturday through Monday. As we get closer, winter watches and warnings are likely to be issued later this week. In addition, forecasters are indicating increasing chances for freezing rain and possibly snow. While it is still too early to determine exact timing or amounts, confidence is growing that winter weather will impact our area this weekend.
Today, I met with our emergency management team to begin planning for the upcoming weather. At my direction, we have activated our emergency plans and operations center, and we will increase activation levels as we approach the weekend, with all hands on deck beginning Friday evening.
Between now and Friday, start to finalize winterization of your home, make your plans, and pick up necessary supplies. This is not a time to hoard food or supplies, but it is a time to be prepared.
Based on current briefings, this does not appear to be on the scale of the 2021 winter storm, but preparedness is always our best defense and that is my motto and should be yours as well.
As conditions change and more information becomes available, I will continue to provide updates. For now, make a plan and start preparing.
