Congratulations Assistant Chief Hess!

Today, we are proud to recognize a significant professional achievement within our department.

Assistant Fire Chief Chad Hess has officially earned his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

The CFO designation represents one of the highest levels of professional development in the fire service. It reflects a commitment to leadership, strategic planning, risk reduction, and effective emergency response coordination. Achieving this credential requires a combination of advanced education, extensive experience, and demonstrated competency across all aspects of fire department administration.

Candidates must hold the rank of Battalion Chief or higher and complete a rigorous credentialing process based on a point system that evaluates both education and professional experience. This ensures that those who earn the designation have proven their ability to lead organizations, manage resources responsibly, and serve their communities at the highest level.

Chief Hess’s accomplishment is a testament to his dedication to the fire service, his commitment to continuous improvement, and his leadership within our organization. His efforts strengthen not only our department, but also the level of service we provide to the community every day.

Please join us in congratulating Assistant Fire Chief Chad Hess and his family on this outstanding achievement.

Do you sleep with your bedroom door closed? YOU SHOULD! 🚪💤

Keeping your bedroom door closed at night can help in a fire in three big ways:

- **Slows the spread of flames and smoke** into your room, giving you more time to escape.
- **Reduces heat and toxic gases** in the room, improving your chances of surviving long enough for help.
- **Helps smoke alarms in hallways stay audible** longer, so you can hear the warning clearly.

Make sure your door closes fully and isn’t blocked, and keep it shut when you sleep—but always follow your family’s escape plan and get out fast if the alarm sounds.

Stay safe and shut that door! 🔥❤️

Does your family have a disaster escape plan… and a meeting place? 🚒🏠

Before an emergency happens, take a few minutes to:

- Draw a simple floor plan of your home.
- Mark two ways out of every room.
- Pick a safe outdoor meeting place (like a mailbox, tree, or neighbor’s driveway).
- Practice your plan at least twice a year.

If your smoke alarm sounds, get out fast—don’t stop for phones, pets, or pets in phones. Then meet at your spot and call for help.

If you need help making a home escape plan, your New Carlisle Fire Department is here to help. Stay safe and start the conversation tonight!

Congrats Paramedic Grace Maudlin!

We are incredibly proud to recognize Grace for successfully passing the National Registry Paramedic (NREMT-P) exam — a major milestone and the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.

Becoming a paramedic is not something that happens overnight. Paramedic school is an intense and demanding process that requires hundreds of hours of classroom education, clinical rotations in hospitals, and field internships on ambulances. It means long days, late nights, studying after shifts, missing holidays, family events, and personal time — all while maintaining a commitment to patient care and professional excellence.

Grace pushed through challenging exams, stressful scenarios, and high expectations, all while holding herself to the standard our communities deserve from paramedics. Passing the National Registry is not just a test result — it represents resilience, discipline, critical thinking, and an unwavering dedication to serving others when they need it most.

Grace, your hard work has paid off, and your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed. We are proud of you, grateful for your commitment, and excited to see the impact you will continue to make as a paramedic.

Congratulations Grace!
