It was great to welcome Maria McKee, chief executive officer of the Lawrence County YMCA, along with Eric Rothermel, vice president of Government Relations, and others from the YMCA to my office at the Capitol.

We had a great conversation about the important role YMCAs play in our communities, including promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting job training. I also shared my work with the bipartisan Fitness Caucus and my ongoing “Reps with PA Reps” fitness series at the East Shore YMCA in Harrisburg.

Staying active and building healthier communities is something I’m passionate about, and I appreciate the YMCA’s partnership in promoting wellness across Pennsylvania.

If you’re in the Harrisburg area, I hope you will join me for one of our upcoming “Reps with PA Reps” workout classes this month at the East Shore YMCA in Harrisburg. These pop-up classes are open to members and community guests, and other state representatives may also join in throughout the month.

Check out the graphic for dates and times of the workouts.

Thank you to the nearly 1,300 people who participated in my telephone town hall meeting on Tuesday. It was an opportunity for me to hear from residents about the issues that matter most in the 9th District.

I also want to thank Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity for co-hosting the event and sharing information about the work of the Treasury Department, including its efforts to return unclaimed property to rightful owners and protect Pennsylvanians from financial fraud and identity theft.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and share their questions and feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any additional questions about the issues discussed during the meeting.

Brown Highlights Bipartisan Record on Data Center Oversight

HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) released the following statement regarding her stance on data center development in Pennsylvania:

“As Pennsylvania continues to attract interest from data center developers, it is important that we balance economic opportunity with responsible oversight. With increasing demand for artificial intelligence, Pennsylvania is seeing a growing interest from developers looking to build large-scale data centers across the Commonwealth.

“My record shows I have supported bipartisan efforts to increase transparency, strengthen oversight and give local communities a greater voice. I voted in favor of two Democrat-sponsored bills addressing data center development because I believe good policy should always come before politics.

Today, I met with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) members who work at a nursing home in Beaver County to hear directly about the challenges they are facing, including staffing shortages and concerns over pay and retention.

Our nursing home workers provide essential care for our most vulnerable residents, and I have supported legislation aimed at strengthening long-term care facilities, improving workforce conditions and ensuring quality care for seniors across Pennsylvania.

I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from caregivers about what is happening, and I will continue working to support policies that recognize the value of these workers and the important role they play in our communities.

It was great to see constituent, David Goldberg, owner of Union Station Craft Distillery in New Castle at the Capitol last night representing distilleries at the PA Restaurant and Lodging Association Taste of the Town event. I have been working with David to establish PA Rye as the state whiskey. Hopefully, you will soon be able to taste some of it at Union Station!

Today, I was honored to join colleagues from the House and Senate at the Capitol to discuss the important role pregnancy medical and resource centers play in supporting women, mothers, and families across our Commonwealth.

Maternal health is about more than medical care. Healthy outcomes for mothers and babies depend on access to care, strong support systems and having trusted resources available throughout pregnancy and beyond. While Pennsylvania is home to excellent healthcare providers, many families still face challenges getting the support they need.

These centers are helping women navigate pregnancy by providing education, resources, guidance and connections to care. They are helping women feel supported during some of the most important moments of their lives.

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak about the importance of supporting mothers to improve outcomes for women and children across Pennsylvania.

When we support mothers, we strengthen families. And when we strengthen families, we strengthen our communities.

I had the profound honor of serving as the keynote speaker at my Alma Mater, Mohawk Area High School, for the graduating class of 2026 Baccalaureate prayer service last evening. It was a privilege to share my faith and reflect on ways it has shaped and guided my life.

To the class of 2026, I extend my warmest wishes as you step into this next phase of your lives. May your paths be filled with purpose, success, and joy.

Your story is only beginning, and the world is waiting for the light you carry. Step forward with courage, conviction, and hope.

Thank you, Rev. Nathan Leslie, the Mohawk Area Churches Association, and the Mohawk Area School District for the opportunity to honor the class of 2026.

I had a great day visiting Mr. Hamm’s 9th grade civics classes at Neshannock School District. Thank you to all the students for such engaging and thoughtful discussions.

We talked about the legislative process, how ideas become laws and how those laws affect teens. We discussed what’s impacting their community and I spent time hearing many of their ideas for improving the world around them.

I appreciate the energy, great questions, and time together. Thank you Neshannock 9th graders and Mr. Hamm for a fantastic visit. Enjoy your summer vacation!
