Update on the Phillips School Road closing-starting Monday, July 14, the road will be closed to through traffic from State Route 158 to right before Marti Park's lower entrance. You can get to the lower park by coming in through town, then going down Phillips
School Road by the township building, or by going down Wilson Mill Road off of State Route 158 (that will be the detour I am assuming anyway), then turning left onto Phillips School Road. It should be closed for 45-60 days to replace the culvert and repave the road, but it will depend on the weather. The road will be blocked off at both ends so you will cannot to drive on it.

Marti Park is not able to have their annual fundraising craft show this year for a variety of reasons. If you would like to help them raise money, you can do so by reading this letter and donating to Marti Park at the township building or by logging onto comm-foundation.org. Just click the donate now button, type in Marti Park Foundation, and they will walk you through it. You can pay with a debit or credit card, and it will be a tax-deductible donation. All proceeds will go directly back into the park for expenses. Thank you -

To everyone that shared our post, made nice comments about the park, and gave us information about the person that vandalized Marti Park, we found him! He turned himself in earlier today and the police will now handle it. Thank you all for helping us with this problem, we appreciate it. Enjoy the park this summer😃

I know I just posted yesterday the inclusive playground will be closed today and tomorrow, but I talked to the installer last night, and it has changed. The playground will be closed after lunch on Tuesday, September 5 and Wednesday, September 6. Things happen and schedules change, sorry. Remember, the whole park will be closed after 1:30 on Friday (8/25) for a fundraiser for Volant Fire Company. Come and watch the bow shoot if you like, or enter to win, but stay behind the shooters. They are using real arrows and they are very sharp and will do damage. There will be a food truck at the lower park area for your dining pleasure. The shoot starts at 2:00, ends before dark. Attached are a few pictures from last year. They had "animals" set up along the trail to see who could aim best and other targets set up.

The Volant Fire Department is having a bow and arrow competition as a fundraiser on Friday (8/25) afternoon. The upper trail and upper playgrounds will be open until around 1:30. They will be setting up decoys on the nature trail so that will have to be closed all day. Once 1:30 hits, everyone will be asked to leave as arrows will be shot at targets and it will not be safe for you to be there. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the Volant Volunteer Fire Department does need to raise funds for training, gas, equipment, etc., to keep everyone safe. Thanks for understanding. If there are any bow hunters out there, you can sign up and try to win prizes. Please see a Volant Fire Department volunteer for information. Brian Swisher, one of your supervisors, will be selling tickets if you know him.

The inclusive playground, (the first one), will be closed on Thursday and Friday (8/24 & 25) so that the installers can finally put in the posts for the sunshade over part of the playground. We know this is an inconvenience, but it will be nice for everyone once it is up. They will be running equipment and it will be dangerous for everyone to be on the playground. Thank you for understanding and sorry for the inconvenience. Don't forget, we do have two other playgrounds that are pretty fun!

Marti Park's entrance will not be closed today due to the rain. However, it will be closed either Friday (8/11) or Monday (8/14), depending on Smith Paving's schedule. You can still access the park, you'll just have to park at the lower part of the park, by the nature trail/stream or at the storage building by the intersection of Phillips School Road and Wilson Mill Road. It's the large yellowish building. You can park at the township building if you wish, but then you would have to cross a road with kids. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the driveway will be much wider, making going in and out quite a bit easier and safer.

We want to thank everyone that helped with the Marti Park Craft Show on August 5th, from the park board members, the donors of baskets or money, the volunteers, NHS Students, the vendors, and those that attended and supported the craft show. Without everyone helping in their own way, it would not be possible. It was a huge success, they made $13,000, all of which will go back into the park.

On Thursday, August 10, Marti Park's upper park entrance will be closed. You can enter the park by parking in the lower entrance and walking up the trail or steps. Smith Paving will be widening the entrance to the park, making it much safer for all who enter and exit the park. It is an inconvenience now, but will be much better when done.
