At Lockley Early Learning Center, positive behavior is something worth celebrating! Recently, students had an exciting opportunity to do just that. Through the school’s Principal’s 200 Club, students earn tickets by demonstrating kind, caring & safe behavior each day. These tickets not only recognize their efforts, but also give them a chance to win special prizes.

As an end of year celebration, on the last day of school, seven lucky students were selected to receive brand-new bicycles. For many students, this was more than just winning a prize; it was a meaningful reminder that their positive choices and hard work truly matter.

The Principal’s 200 Club continues to be a powerful way to encourage a positive school climate, reinforcing the behaviors that help everyone learn and grow together. Congratulations to our bike winners, and see you next year, Lockley students!

Keep Calm and PLAY on! HWL welcomed families for Remake Learning Days!

Dr. Bucci invited other second grade classes to join her class for the event! Miss Cotelesse, Mrs. Hartje, Mrs. Schell, Mrs. Less, and Mrs. Dicks participated and assisted Dr. Bucci, Tracy Yeropoli, and Leah Shipman to plan and host a fun, hands-on learning experience rooted in the LEGO® Brick-by-Brick program as part of Remake Learning Days 2026.

Following the Play Included Model and working together in small groups, parents and children collaborated to build a LEGO kit while practicing communication, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.

Light refreshments were served and all participating second grade students received a Lego-themed gift bag to take home. Shoutout to HWL teachers, staff, and administrators Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Corey, and Mrs. Florie for hosting New Castle’s Remake Learning event for three years in a row! RemakeLearningDays

Students in Miss Ransom and Mrs. Shaffer’s 8th Grade ELA classes developed their own Earth Day research questions based on environmental topics that interested them. Through research using credible sources, students explored real-world environmental issues and solutions, then created presentations to share their learning.

Families joined us for an interactive gallery walk where they visited student presentations, learned new facts, and asked thoughtful questions along the way. The event highlighted our students’ creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in communicating their research.

They wrapped up the celebration with sweet treats as they recognized the students’ hard work and dedication. Thank you to all the families and community members who came out to support our students and their learning!
