17:44 - NCFD was dispatched with EMS and law enforcement to the intersection of State Road 103 and County Road 300 S for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Crews arrived on scene at 17:47 and had the patient extricated from the vehicle at 17:56. NCEMS transported five patients to Henry County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. NCFD crews were back in service at 18:22.

00:31 - NCFD a was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 900 BLK of W SR 38. Upon arrival of Rescue 5 and Battalion 1, R5 marked nothing showing and began investigation. When making entry they were met with smoke banked down to the floor and Battalion 1 marked a working fire. At that time R5 began a primary search and Engine 3 arrived and began suppression efforts. The fire was marked under control within 12 minutes of the initial dispatch. Two patients were transported by NCEMS to the hospital for smoke inhalation, no fire service personnel injuries were reported. NCFD was back in service at 01:25.

We’ve had some people reach out about starting salaries and what the difference is between that and first class. So here is a quick breakdown.

In the graphic it shows Probationary Firefighter (first year) salary and First Class Firefighter (first rank above probationary).

It also breaks down this years numbers vs. the agreed upon salaries in 2027 in our labor contract with New Castle Firefighters Local 1722.

New hires with no previous experience will fall under the “Probationary” category. Lateral transfers with 2+ years on another career fire department will hire in as First Class Firefighters.
