🎉 Staffing Updates Approved by the School Board 🎉

At last night’s School Board meeting, the Board approved the appointment of Dave Dunstan as the new Principal of Craig County High School. Mr. Dunstan brings a strong commitment to student success, positive school culture, and instructional excellence, and we are excited to welcome his leadership in this important role.

The Board also approved Susan Stimeling as the division’s new Intervention Specialist. This primarily grant-funded position will focus on Tier 1 behavioral supports and interventions at the middle school level, with additional support provided to the high school and elementary school as needed. In this role, Ms. Stimeling will work closely with students and staff to strengthen positive behaviors, enhance school climate, and support success across the division.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Dunstan and Ms. Stimeling as they step into these new roles in support of the students, staff, and families of Craig County Public Schools. Both will officially begin on July 1, 2026.

May Employee of the Month:
Mrs. McCoy embodies the values and practices that we expect at CCPS. She understands the importance of respectful relationships with students and families. Because she is able to develop positive relationships with her students so quickly, she is also able to provide high-quality instruction the moment they walk through her door. She provides a calm, positive learning environment, while also presenting engaging lessons that challenge her students to reach their true potential. Mrs. McCoy brings a natural talent to CCPS and is a true asset to our team.

Please be advised that the elementary playgrounds will be closed beginning on Monday, May 25, 2026 and will remain closed throughout the summer due to ongoing construction and improvement projects on campus. In addition, there will be limited access to portions of the school campus during this time to ensure the safety of students, families, staff, and contractors.

Additionally, the main gym will also be closed, also beginning on Monday, May 25, 2026 to all individuals and groups during construction. Information regarding any athletic practices, workouts, or open gym opportunities will be coordinated and communicated with parents at a later date as construction schedules become clearer.

We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work to improve our facilities for our students and community. Thank you.
