🚨 This Evening 🚨

This evening, New Castle City Police Department and partner agencies responded to the Amazon facility on Centerpoint Blvd following a report of an active assailant.

After a thorough investigation, responding units determined the report to be false. There is no danger to the public at this time.

We appreciate the swift response of all assisting agencies and thank the community for their patience and cooperation.

On May 11, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the New Castle City Police Department and Good Will Fire Company responded to an injury crash on W. 7th Street just north of Clark Street involving a local delivery box truck.

The preliminary investigation determined that the truck was traveling northbound on W. 7th Street when it crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway, and struck two parked vehicles and a detached garage, causing significant property damage.

The operator of the truck was transported to a local hospital and admitted for significant injuries sustained in the crash.

During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated a DUI investigation. Although the investigation remains ongoing, charges have been filed against the driver, including DUI (drugs), aggressive driving, and several related traffic offenses.

The New Castle City Police Department is requesting assistance identifying two suspects pictured below. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, two male suspects entered Stoltzfus, located inside the New Castle Farmers Market at 110 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware. The suspects used two counterfeit $100 bills to make low-value purchases. Suspect also concealed additional merchandise in a shorts pocket and exited the store without rendering payment. The Delaware Office of Highway Safety is once again offering the Sober Rides program during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday to ensure Delawareans have access to a sober ride home after celebrating.

This Sober Rides activation includes two parts:
Part 1: People can use their vouchers between Saturday, March 14 at 12 p.m. to Sunday, March 15 at 3 a.m.
Part 2: People can use their vouchers between Tuesday, March 17 at 12 p.m. to Wednesday, March 18 at 3 a.m.

Delawareans can claim their vouchers with Lyft or Uber at MySoberRides.com as early as 10 a.m. on 3/14 and 3/17.
