Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the heroes who gave everything for the freedoms we cherish every day.

From all of us at the fire department, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen service members and their families. Your courage, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten.

As you spend time with loved ones today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

🌷🚒 Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at the fire department! 🚒🌷

Today we’re celebrating the moms, grandmas, bonus moms, stepmoms, aunties, and mother figures who keep families strong, hearts full, and snacks magically stocked at all times. ❤️

To the moms who answer every late-night call, patch scraped knees like pros, remind us to wear a jacket, and somehow always know where everything is… we appreciate you more than words can say.

And to the moms serving in emergency services — thank you for showing strength, compassion, and courage both at home and on the job. You truly do it all. 👩‍🚒💐

We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, good food, and at least one moment where nobody says, “Mommmm!” from another room. 😄

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸🔥

Just a friendly heads-up to stay weather aware this afternoon and into the overnight hours. There’s a chance for some strong to severe storms, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on conditions. Make sure you have a few ways to receive weather alerts and keep your devices charged—just in case.

Strong to severe storms likely today, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible, including the potential for an isolated strong tornado in west central Indiana.

Make sure to stay weather aware this evening and overnight with the impending arrival of storms.

A little refresher for ones who don’t know. Also, if you see green lights, those are medical professionals trying to make their way to the emergency to help out.

Are you yielding to flashing blue lights? Volunteer firefighters responding to an emergency in their personal vehicle will display flashing blue lights. Indiana law does not require you to yield the right of way, but would you want other motorists to yield the right of way if your house was on fire or your child was not breathing? Please do the right thing and yield the right away to volunteer firefighters. We also want to take this time to thank all volunteer firefighters for their dedicated service to their communities. We appreciate you!

Please remain vigilant the next time couple of days with the weather and roads conditions. If you don’t need to be out, stay home and stay safe.

Attention is now turned to Tuesday morning as winds will pick up. Statewide wind gusts to 25-35mph seem likely, with northern Indiana having potential to gust to 40mph, perhaps higher.

We are used to the wind by now, but this time it poses a little more of a risk. With all the light and fluffy snow across the state, blowing & drifting snow now becomes a big concern. Low visibility at times may even create what is called “ground blizzard” conditions at times. This is where snow isn’t actively falling, but snow already on the ground is intensely blowing around.

Plan on wind gusts to ramp up overnight Monday into Tuesday. Some rural country roads may be drifted shut as a result of this wind, and travel may be difficult due to low visibility.

If anything changes we will let you know.
