🍁🎃👻🎄The countdown is on! September is here, which means some of our favorite days of the year are getting closer! From crisp fall weather and Halloween fun to Thanksgiving gatherings and Christmas cheer, there’s a lot of good stuff ahead.

And as we celebrate 90 years of service, we’re grateful to have spent so many seasons powering the homes, traditions and memories of our members. 💚⚡

Which one are you counting down to most?

Long before smart meters, apps, and today’s technology, learning about electricity was a little more hands-on!

This photo from the CBEC archives captures a group of young people getting an up-close lesson on electricity and how it works. While a lot has changed over the years, our commitment to education, safety, and the communities we serve has remained strong.

As we celebrate 90 Years of Service, we’re proud to look back at moments like these that helped shape our cooperative. 💚

Today, we join millions around the world in remembering Dolly Parton, not only for the music and joy she shared, but for the incredible legacy of kindness, generosity and opportunity she leaves behind. Dolly passed away Tuesday at the age of 80.

One piece of that legacy is especially close to our hearts at CBEC: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. What began in her home county in Tennessee grew into a worldwide effort to put books into the hands of children and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

CBEC is proud to support two local Imagination Library chapters serving children in our communities, and today we encourage our members to honor Dolly in a way that will keep her legacy turning pages for generations to come.

📚 Consider making a donation to one of the Imagination Library chapters we support, or to the chapter in your own neck of the woods. Every contribution helps another child experience the excitement of finding a book with their name on it waiting in the mailbox.

Dolly gave the world plenty to sing about, but she also gave millions of children a reason to read, dream and imagine a little bigger.

Thank you, Dolly, for a legacy that will live on in every story shared and every little reader inspired. 💛📖

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th, the Craig County Public Library invites you to honor Dolly Parton by continuing to spread her love of literacy and education.

The Craig County Public Library is honored to offer Dolly's Imagination Library to the children in our community. Because we believe everyone should have access to books and reading, just as Dolly believed, we invite you to shop our Book Barns tomorrow from 10am to 7pm for free books.

Dolly's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, people make memorial contributions to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to support her lifelong literacy mission. Your donation may be made to a specific location to help children have access to books in your own community.

"If you can read, you can dream. And if you can dream, you can do anything."
-Dolly Parton
1946-2026

Thank you for your years of light, love, laughter, giving, kindness, and beauty Mrs. Dolly. Your spark will continue to shine with every child that picks up a book and we hope to always help keep that spark shining. ❤️

🎄 The Tinsel Trail is about more than Christmas trees - it’s also about giving back to this community that we all call home. ❤

Teresa Fridley with First Bank , along with Chamber Board Member (and notable Past President!) Maiya Ashby, of Craig Botetourt Electric Cooperative, recently met with Sheriff Matthew Ward to present the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office with a $500 charitable donation from proceeds of our annual Tinsel Trail!

These funds will help support the many community-focused events and initiatives the Sheriff’s Office provides throughout the year.

And there’s another special Tinsel Trail connection: Deputy Jonathan Mason of the Botetourt County Sheriff's Office has served on our Tinsel Trail Committee for years and, each season, works alongside his workforce group to help place all 45 of our Tinsel Trail Christmas trees. It’s a big job & we truly couldn’t bring the Trail to life without their help!

This is what the Tinsel Trail is all about: our community coming together, creating a little Christmas magic and turning it into an opportunity to give back. ❤️🎄

Flashback Friday! 📸

We hope y’all are having as great a day as this member was at our Annual Meeting… just a few short years ago! 😄

Okay, maybe 2001 was a little more than a few years ago, but the smiles and good times never get old.

Here’s to a great Friday from all of us at CBEC!
