🍂As fall temperatures fluctuate, your thermostat settings can make a big difference on energy bills. On cooler days, lower the thermostat… and raise it during days that are warmer. On milder days, consider turning off your heating/cooling system altogether. A smart thermostat is also convenient for making temperature adjustments––and saving energy––even easier.

⚠️ 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐒 | 𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘 – 𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐄 𝟒𝟐

CBEC is notifying approximately 525 members along Route 42 in Craig County of two brief planned power outages scheduled for this week.

📅 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟑
🕗 Between 8:00–9:00 AM
⏱️ Expected duration: 20 minutes or less

📅 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓
🕗 Between 8:00–9:00 AM
⏱️ Expected duration: 20 minutes or less

🌳 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲?

Our crews will be working along the mountain to lower power lines and safely remove trees that could threaten electric service.

Rather than leave members without power for the duration of this work, we will temporarily switch to an alternate power feed to keep electricity flowing while crews complete the necessary maintenance.

Tuesday's brief outage will allow us to switch feeds, and Thursday's outage will allow us to return the lines to their normal configuration.

📞 All members affected by these planned outages have been contacted directly by telephone.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews complete this important maintenance while keeping interruptions to a minimum! ⚡

🍂Cooler temps are coming, which means your heating system will soon be working harder to keep your home comfortable. Fall is the perfect time to check for drafts around windows and doors––before cooler weather arrives. A little weatherstripping and caulk can help keep conditioned air indoors while improving efficiency and overall comfort.

📸 Today’s trip through the CBEC archives features former employee Delena Givens hard at work! ⚡

From handwritten records and filing cabinets to today’s digital systems, a lot has changed over the years, but the people behind the scenes have always played an important role in keeping our Cooperative running and serving our members.

We’re proud to look back on the employees who have been part of CBEC’s 90-year history and helped build the Cooperative we know today. 💚

Do you remember Delena? Share a memory with us in the comments!

Career Quest is organized chaos in the very best way! 🙌

Over two action-packed days, roughly 4,000 seventh-grade students from Roanoke and surrounding communities get the opportunity to step outside the classroom and explore what their futures could look like.

From skilled trades and technology to healthcare, public service and beyond, students can meet professionals, ask questions and, most importantly, get hands-on with careers they may have never considered before.

We’re always excited to be part of an event that gives young people an early look at the opportunities waiting for them right here in our region.

A big thank you to the Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board and everyone who works behind the scenes to pull off this incredible two-day event each year. Coordinating thousands of seventh graders is no small feat, but you make the organized chaos look good! 👏
