Now this is the definition of the !!! Sheyenne was our first student representative on the Board of Education a few years ago. Since then she graduated college and is returning as our newest middle school teacher. “Once a Colonial, Always a Colonial”. Welcome back Sheyenne!

🌟 NEW EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: SHEYENNE FAIRCLOTH 🌟

Please join us in welcoming Sheyenne Faircloth to the Power of WE! Sheyenne joins McCullough Middle School as a 7th Grade ELA Teacher.

Sheyenne is a proud Colonial alumna who attended Wilbur Elementary, Gunning Bedford Middle School, and William Penn High School. Before joining Colonial, she worked as a Site Lead with the Summer Learning Collaborative, a nonprofit organization serving Colonial schools and other local communities.

Her own Colonial ELA teachers helped inspire her path into education, especially the women of color who showed her the power of stories and literacy to empower, inspire, and transform communities.

As she returns to Colonial as an educator, Sheyenne is most excited about mentoring young people and giving back to the community that helped shape her.

Welcome home, Sheyenne! We are excited to have you inspiring the next generation of Colonial students! ❤️🖤

Over the past 15 months I have clearly stated my frustration with how NCCo has operated this whole reassessment fiasco. I’m proud of the way Colonial manages our funds conservatively, but I’m tired of seeing our district pay, literally, for the ineptitude of other governments.

The Appoquinimink, Christina, and Colonial school districts may need to increase taxes due to higher costs for student services, among other factors. But schools will face tight budgets – while taxpayers face uncertainty – until later this fall, since exact increases remain unknown after last year’s property reassessment controversy. A proposal to “tweak” the elementary school feeder pattern at Colonial schools marks the most recent attempt to address challenges with classroom space. Read the article: https://ow.ly/1jAc50ZqTc7

Let us know: what do you think of these potential changes?

I want to congratulate Carlos and Dawn on being elected on Tuesday. Carlos has served with me on the board for the past year and I served 5 years with Dawn on the Colonial CFOC before I was elected to the board. I’m excited to have these two as colleagues for the next few years.

A big congratulations to Carlos Dipres and Dawn Green on your election to the Colonial School Board. Thank you for your commitment to serving our school community.
