The Craig County Public Library invites you to register your child(ren) enrolled in school (homeschool as well) under the age of 18 (unless they are still enrolled in school, not college) for the Amazon Summer Feeding Program!
This year the Summer Feeding Program is slightly different, but BETTER! Instead of offering food for your child(ren) 5 days/week, this year your child(ren) will receive food and milk 7 days/week.
There are a few rules for registration:
1. Your child(ren) must be under 18 years of age unless they are still enrolled as a school age student. Children younger than school age may register as well.
2. Your child(ren) may register for ONE summer feeding program. If they are registered for more than one summer feeding program, even if it is a different county or a pick up and go program, they will be dropped from the Amazon Summer Feeding Program. This also means if your child(ren) lives in more than one home, they may only register for the food to be delivered to ONE home only.
4. You must live in the 24127, 24128, 24070, or 24131 zip codes to register with the Craig County Public Library Amazon Summer Feeding Program.
5. Any child(ren) attending summer school and receiving meals at school may not register for summer feeding until the completion of summer school.
There are 2 registration deadlines this year:
1. June 8th
2. June 22nd (for children attending summer school)
Craig County children will receive 8 distributions of food boxes delivered to their registration address from Amazon beginning June 16th-August 4th.
If you have issues with your food boxes (damaged food items, didn't receive at all/didn't receive the correct number of boxes, food items missing, etc.), please report these issues to the Craig County Public Library via one of the following methods:
1. Call during normal business hours (540) 864-8978
2. Email [email protected]
3. Facebook message the Craig County Public Library or Michaela Crawford
Do not contact Amazon! They will not have any information for you!
Our flyers have a QR code available for registration or you can use one of the above methods (call, email, or FB message) for registration or online @ feedingswva.org/summer-food-service-program/ and choose the option for Home Delivery Enrollment.
The Craig County Public Library recognizes the hardships many are facing due to the rising cost of fuel, food, and more. Please register your children for summer feeding and take a chunk out of your summer grocery budget! See less

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform our community of the death of a dedicated member of our Friends of the Library (FOL) and dear friend, Mrs. Winnie Walter.

Mrs. Winnie dedicated her time, passion, and always brought a positive, fresh energy with her beautiful, smiling face to nearly every library event and fundraiser, joined by her loving husband of 8 years, Martin Walter. Winnie and Martin both quickly became pillars of our Friends of the Library group and gained the respect and affection of our staff, board, patrons, FOL, and other volunteers.

Words cannot express how greatly she already is and will continue to be missed by our little library. The Craig County Public Library board, staff, FOL, and volunteers aren't simply friends or co-workers, we are family. Family sharing the same love of literacy, education, and community.

Mrs. Winnie dedicated 43 years of her life to education and literacy as a teacher in Germany Our library was greatly blessed when she chose us. She was not just an FOL member but our good friend as well. Her friendly smile, kind heart, dedication, and contagious laugh will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

We thank you for your service to our little library Mrs. Winnie and Mr. Martin. We ask for continued thoughts and well wishes for Mrs. Winnie's husband, Martin, her loved ones, and our little library. We will continue to spread the joy of learning and love of literacy, honoring Mrs. Winnie's passion.

The Craig County Public Library would like to request a county-wide read today in honor of Mrs. Winnie. Choose a book for yourself, your children, your pets, anyone you know and love. Spend some time snuggling and reading. We would love to see pictures of those honoring Mrs. Winnie and reading together. Please join us in sharing a story today to continue Mrs. Winnie's legacy. Please feel free to share your photos in the comments or post to your FB page, tag the Craig County Public Library with the hashtag .

As always, we continue to thank our library patrons and volunteers for your continued love and support. We hope you all know we wouldn't and couldn't exist without you. Thank you again and please share our love for Mrs. Winnie today with your family.

We are loving the sunshine and warmer weather!
We know you'll agree winter was a tad excessive this year, and we are beyond over it. Warmer weather means our plant swap day is coming soon!

All of our wonderful green-thumbed Craig County citizens, please help us prepare for our annual plant swap day.

How can you prepare, you might ask? Well, listen up, buttercup!
1. We don't need fancy containers. Grab a Solo cup, a styrofoam cup, or a butter container (unless, of course, the butter container is your finest Tupperware—we aren't judging because our cabinets are filled with this fine china too).
2. Take some clippings from your beautiful indoor or outdoor plants or start some new seedlings.
3. Keep those clippings or seedlings vibrant and ready to go until our swap day (if you bring it before swap day, we aren't making any promises we can keep it alive.)
4. Bring your fabulous self, your family, and your friends to our plant-swap day. Take home some new plants and grow your green space.
Our plant swap day date and time is TBD. Like and follow us for updated information.
We thank you for your continued support of our little library!

The Craig County Public Library wants to hear from you!

What books or movies have you read, listened to, or watched while hibernating from the cold? What's your cold weather go-to book(s) or movie(s)? Cause let's get real, we all know winter isn't done with us yet! (If you're new to Virginia weather, welcome to your first false spring.)

I'll go first! Harry Potter books and movies are ALWAYS a go to for our house!

But in the meantime, don't we all feel better with a little bit of sunshine??!! We know WE feel better! Grab a new read from the library today and read in the sunshine! It's good for the soul (and we hear Vitamin D from the sunshine is pretty good for you too).

P.S. The ice has melted and we (and you) can FINALLY get into our Book Barns to shop your next read, listen, and/or watch! Stop by the library today!!

From what we understand Snowmageddon 2026 is about to happen! Snow lovers rejoice and those of you waiting on spring hold tight, your time is almost here.
After you get the essentials like milk and bread for your milk sandwiches, swing by the Craig County Public Library for your snowed in entertainment needs.
Books, movies, puzzles, literacy activity calendars, STEAM projects, and more are waiting for you. Don't let your kids tell the tale to their kids and grandkids of how they walked barefoot in the snow both ways for entertainment during the snow storm of 2026! (The Craig County Public Library does not advise nor condone walking barefoot in the snow, but we all have that one family member that tells this story.)

***We want our community safe. Therefore, late fees will not accrue and please disregard any messages received from our automated system regarding late items during the storm. Don't try to come out in Snowmageddon unless you absolutely must, stay home, stay warm, and stay safe.***

From our library family to yours, we wish you a safe, happy, and blessed holiday season!

May your Christmas light bulbs remain shiny and bright with no burnt out bulbs to be found. May your living room recover from the inevitable wrapping paper tornado. May you remember to avoid glances at the giant holiday dent in your checking and savings. May your ability to follow instructions while putting new gifts together be top tier and the bag of, "spare parts," be minimal. May your homes be filled with family, friends, laughter, and endless joy. And last but not least, may your book supply be endless!

Thank you for sharing your stories, being the best part of our story, and for allowing us to join you and yours in the next chapter.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The Craig County Public Library and the Library of Virginia invite you to join us for a Holiday story time adventure with Dial-a-Story!
Every Wednesday, a Virginia librarian shares a story with book lovers and listeners alike through the Library of Virginia’s Dial-a-Story program.

This Wednesday’s story time is VERY special to the Craig County Public Library! Be sure to find spare time this inevitably busy Christmas Eve to listen to Michaela Crawford, Craig County Public Library’s Program Coordinator, read this Wednesday’s story, “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Spoon.”

Feel great about boosting your child’s reading readiness, literacy and listening skills, and enjoying your story time snuggled tight in the warmth and comfort of your own home.
