We will not forget that within the first 81 days of 2024 there were 4 domestic violence murders by an intimate partner where a gun was used to murder 5 of the 6 victims (4 women and 2 children).

Show up today at Rockland County’s Legislature’s Meeting at 7pm in support of Referral #8455 a local law to provide individuals seeking to purchase a firearm or weapon a warning of the dangers of ownership.

"My constituents have told me they are tired of watching children being gunned down and politicians saying ‘there’s nothing we can do.’ Here in Rockland County, we can treat gun violence as the public health crisis we know it to be, and warn consumers of the risks of having a firearm in the home. If this law makes one person suffering from depression think twice, if it prevents one domestic violence death, saves one child from an accidental shooting—or a law enforcement officer answering the call of duty— it will have been worth it. I thank my fellow legislators for supporting this important measure.” ~ Legislator Beth Davidson

We proudly celebrate Juneteenth!

June 19, 1865—the day all people living in the United States, including the formerly enslaved, were officially granted freedom.

“I think Juneteenth feels a little different now,” Mark Anthony Neal, a Duke University African and African American studies professor, told The New York Times. “It’s an opportunity for folks to kind of catch their breath about what has been this incredible pace of change and shifting that we’ve seen.”
