It was a privilege be part of Raymond Bollo’s dedication, at Sunrise Assisted Living in New City, for his military service in WW II and a celebration of his life in general. Ray recently turned a young 101. The United States Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Foundation Hudson Valley Chapter, coordinated a luncheon at Sunrise in his honor. Ray is an amazing individual, with an incredible personality and love of life. He’s such an inspiration, demonstrating that there is quality of life after 100.

I was joined by Supervisor George Hoehman, who presented Ray with a proclamation in honor of his military service, and Congressman Mike Lawler Veteran’s representative Jacob Wantroba, presented him with a certificate and an American flag that was flown over the Capitol Building on behalf of the congressman.

It was a pleasure attending yesterday's 3rd Annual Clarkstown Senior Picnic and Health Fair at beautiful Lake Nanuet. There were over 400 seniors who attended to enjoy a delightful day, with music BBQ and friendship.

A big thanks to Clarkstown, especially Parks and Recreation Commissioner Matt Veranesi and Committee Chairman Brian Tesseyman for coordinating this event for our seniors, who have given so much of themselves, for so long to our community.

Along with me, other officials who had attended to schmooze with our seniors were Supervisor George Hoehmann, Senator Bill Weber, Councilman Mike Graziano, Town Clerk Lauren Marie Wohl, and Senator Weber's Chief of Staff John Mulgrew.

Also, thank you to the Clarkstown Police, and Auxiliary for always being present to help coordinate traffic and keep us safe.

Saturday morning I once again had the privilege participating in the Indian Day Parade, coordinated by the Indian Culture Society of Rockland. The parade was attended by over a hundred participants from the Indian society, as well as officials from town, county, and state government. It was a pleasure to march along with Supervisor George Hoehmann, Congressman Mike Lawler, Senator Bill Weber, County Executive Ed Day, Councilman Michael Graziano, Legislator Lon Hofstein, and others.

The event included marching down Main Street, raising of the Indian flag, celebrating India’s 79th anniversary of their independence, and commentaries from elected officials.

There was beautiful colored Indian attire, including sarees worn by the women, and kurtas worn by the men. You could also hear lively traditional Indian music playing down Main Street, with many dancing along. It was a wonderful morning and very special being able to celebrate with these warm and passionate individuals.

This past Thursday evening Candidate for Clarkstown Superintendent of Highways Rob Sambevski had a terrific fundraiser at River Court in New City. Rob a great candidate had a packed house of enthusiastic supporters. Congratulations Rob on a job well done!!

Another fun concert was presented by Clarkstown at beautiful Lake Nanuet this past Wednesday night. This time Joe D’Urso and the Stone Caravan group entertained a large enthusiastic crowd that rocked all night. Supervisor George Hoehmann, Senator Bill Weber and I happily joined the crowd. A special thanks to Parks and Recreation Commissioner Matt Veronesi for a great job coordinating this wonderful event.

Two terrific concerts in the two of Clarkstown’s beautiful parks. Tuesday night, I enjoyed listening to “The Edge”, at the Hamlet Green Fire Fighter’s Memorial Park, in West Nyack, and last night I listened to the amazing “Celtic Cross” at Lake Nanuet. Beautiful weather on Tuesday, and stormy weather on Wednesday. Rainy or shine, the people of Clarkstown took full advantage of some of the pleasures provided for the community.
