This morning at approximately 7:30am, we were dispatched to the Palisades Interstate Parkway Northbound between Exits 10 and 11 for a report of a vehicle fire with entrapment. The New York State Police and The Rockland County Sheriff's Office quickly arrived on scene and confirmed everyone was out of the vehicle. Crews from 9-Squad and 9-Tanker operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes before returning to quarters.

Yesterday, 04/06/26 at 03:44AM the New City Fire Department was dispatched to a telephone alarm at 17 Badger Street. 9-6 quickly arrived on scene to find a heavy fire condition. He transmitted a Signal 12 and made contact with the residents that had evacuated the residence on their own. Crews operated on scene for approximately 3 1/2 hours with no injuries of residents or firefighters being reported.

Today, 03/29/26 at 09:06AM the New City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire with reports of a victim trapped at 71 Carolina Dr. Units quickly arrived on scene and found a 2 story home heavily involved in fire. With reports of a person trapped, crews immediately stretched a hoseline and attempted to reach the second floor via ground ladders. Crews were met with heavy fire conditions at every point of entry and conditions quickly deteriorated. Interior operations were paused as the house became unstable and a structural collapse occurred in the rear. The fire was soon extinguished. Unfortunately a resident was later discovered and pronounced deceased on scene.

March 23, 2021, is a day that will forever live in Rockland County infamy.

Today marks five years since the deadly fire at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults in Spring Valley, which claimed the life of SVFD firefighter Jared Lloyd as he heroically attempted to rescue residents. One resident of the facility also lost their life.

The Rockland County District Attorney stated that two rabbis, using a blowtorch as part of a religious practice, started the fire and were charged with multiple counts. Both ultimately received sentences of probation without jail time.

Justice was not served for Jared Lloyd, but the people of Rockland County will never forget him.

5 years ago, tomorrow, Rockland would lose one of its own. Please take a moment to remember Jared Lloyd, who gave his life while trying to save others.

On March 23, 2021, Spring Valley firefighter Jared Lloyd paid the ultimate sacrifice while rescuing multiple residents during a fire at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults in Spring Valley. His actions saved the lives of multiple individuals, and he is credited with rescuing up to seven residents.

Lloyd, age 35, was a 2004 graduate of Spring Valley High School. He was a rising star and had a stellar reputation within the first responder community. He was also the father of two young boys.

Simply stated, Jared Lloyd was a hero, and he will never be forgotten in Rockland County.
