Yesterday was one of those special days that reminds us what community and service are all about.
On behalf of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockland County Sheriffs Deputies Association, Correction Officers Association of Rockland County, Corrections Superior Officers Council of Rockland, we thank all of the law enforcement agencies, organizations, businesses, and volunteers who participated in our annual Ronald McDonald House Day in the Country with the Sheriff and law enforcement..
This event gives children from Ronald McDonald House and their families an opportunity to leave the city behind for a day, step away from the health challenges they are facing, and simply enjoy being kids. They spent the day swimming, enjoying pony rides and ice cream, receiving toys, and spending time with members of law enforcement from throughout our region. Most importantly, these incredible children were treated like the heroes they truly are.
A very special thank you to Kurt Krucker of Krucker’s Catering & Picnic Grove for once again generously donating the beautiful grounds and food that make this day possible.
We are also extremely grateful to Vincent Abbatecola of Abbey Ice for donating the water; Brian Stevens of Juckas Riding Stables for providing the pony rides, Inserra Supermarkets, ShopRite; and Uncle Mike’s Ice Cream for helping make the day even sweeter.
A huge shout-out to Joe Segelbacher and the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots for providing toys for every child. Seeing the smiles on their faces was truly something special.

To everyone who donated their time, resources, food, transportation, entertainment, and most importantly their friendship to these children and their families—thank you.
Days like this demonstrate the very best of law enforcement and the communities we serve. For a few hours, these children were able to forget about hospitals, appointments, and treatments and just swim, laugh, play, and enjoy a beautiful summer day surrounded by people who were there to celebrate them.
We were honored to spend the day with these amazing children and their families, and we look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition for many years to come.
