Congratulations to the North Rockland Central School District and its staff, who were recognized by the Rockland County Department of Health for their outstanding work through the Creating Healthy Schools and Communities (CHSC) Grant Program.
Over the past five years, the district has helped promote healthier lifestyles by enhancing physical education, supporting wellness initiatives, and encouraging healthy eating and active living for students.
“The Legislature was proud to support this program because investing in the health of our children is investing in the future of Rockland County,” Chairman Jay Hood Jr. said.
Legislator Paul Cleary added, “North Rockland embraced this initiative and made a real difference for students and families. The positive impact of this work will be felt for years to come.”
The Legislature voted to award $1.5 million in funding and regularly monitored the program’s progress with the Health Department. The program was funded through a state grant, which was closely administered through the Health Department.
Thank you to the NRCSD, the RC Health Department, and everyone involved for helping build a healthier Rockland County! Please watch the NRCSD video for a great recap about the real-life impact of the program.
