If you happened to have been the guy who left some things at Stormont Elementary's park today, swing by the police department. A good citizen found your them and turned them into the PD. Correctly describe your forgotten things and simply sign for their release.

It was with great pleasure that the NCPD could deliver hundreds of pounds of school supplies to New Concord Elementary School just in time for the start of the next school year. We saw a need, reached out to the public and our community partners and were overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who donated. The "Stuff the Bus" school supply drive was a huge success!!! We could not have accomplished this without the support of our community partners and neighbors. Thank you is just not enough, so to all the children who will surely benefit from the community's support, remember, "If you start here, you can go anywhere!" Go Muskies!!!

Today’s the day! Today kicks off the NCPD School Supplies drive to benefit New Concord Elementary.

The children need the following:
24-pack Crayola crayons, 24-pack Ticonderoga Pencils, “Majic Run” or “Pink Pearl” erasers, washable glue sticks, washable Crayola markers, children’s scissors, pencil boxes, highlighters, tissues, paper towels, and Clorox wipes, and more.

Together, we can make a difference! Simply drop your donated supplies in the school bus box at the Village Hall/Police Department Monday – Friday 8am – 11pm. All supplies collected will be delivered to New Concord Elementary. Help us STUFF THE BUS!!

Come help us “Stuff the Bus” for New Concord Elementary!

Many families in our community are facing challenges affording basic school supplies essential to the success of their young children this school year. The New Concord PD wants to help, so we’re hosting a School Supplies Drive beginning Monday July 20th, to benefit the students at New Concord Elementary School.

24-pack Crayola crayons, 24-pack Ticonderoga Pencils, “Majic Run” or “Pink Pearl” erasers, washable glue sticks, washable Crayola markers, children’s scissors, pencil boxes, highlighters, tissues, paper towels, and Clorox wipes, are just some of what’s needed to help the children who are struggling to learn without the proper supplies.

Simply drop off your new supplies at the School Bus box Monday-Friday 8a-4p at Village Hall or contact dispatch (740-452-3637 option 1) Monday-Friday ‘til 11 pm, to request an officer meet you at the station. All supplies collected will benefit the students at NC Elementary School and be delivered just before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

With the help of the community, we can help get these kids off to a great start.

You may be wondering about the 1 “no-violation” stop. Why would the police stop a driver who isn’t committing a traffic offense? In this case, the stop was for no license plates.

The driver was headed back to her home near Circleville, Ohio after having just completed an Ohio State Highway Patrol Salvage Inspection at their Cambridge location. Ohio law allows owners to drive their salvage vehicles directly to and from a scheduled inspection and one is required before the owner can buy plates for the vehicle. It wasn’t until after the officer made the traffic stop and collected the driver’s license, salvage title, and inspection certificate that they determined this wasn’t just someone trying to save a buck by not renewing their plates.

It's the National Road Yard Sales this weekend, so get out there and do some treasure hunting!

This holiday weekend is the customary kick-off to summer, but Memorial Day is not meant to be a cheerful holiday event. It’s intended to be a somber, reflective time to remember all those who died in service to their country in the armed forces. If you have a service member or veteran in your circle, it’s ok to thank them for their service. But be sure to tell them you appreciate the fact they made it home and didn’t join the ranks of those who gave it all!

In the past two days, we've taken calls from people stating they were scammed by text messages or phone calls from someone claiming to be law enforcement. In one instance, the scammer specifically claimed to be one of our officers!

We want to be crystal clear about this...we issue ticket books, not receipt books to our officers. Why? Because our officers do NOT collect money for any traffic citations or criminal cases. If you have an outstanding warrant, we will NOT call you on the phone, we prefer to handle that in-person. If you have an outstanding traffic or criminal case debt, our officers will NOT accept any payments from you regarding that case. We will NOT call you to turn yourself in unless we're actually outside your house with lots of backup and an armored vehicle.

PLEASE...don't send money, a copy of your Social Security card, or driver's license to anyone you don't have a legitimate, confirmed, pre-existing business relationship with.

Let’s talk briefly about Speed. The math tells us that kinetic energy increases proportionally to the square of speed. That means just a 30% increase in speed (say, 50 mph to 65 mph) creates a 69% increase in the kinetic energy at the point of a crash. For pedestrians the outcome is shocking! An EU study found 5% of pedestrians died when struck at 20 mph, 45% died when struck at 30 mph, but 85% died when struck at 40 mph. Just imagine the results if that young driver on John Glenn School Rd had struck a child during that active school zone. Please, slow down.
