We would like to extend a special thank you to the Fox Eichelberger VFW Post 7415 for their generous donation to our agency! Thanks to that generosity, we will be able to purchase and place into service handheld thermal imaging devices. Having access to these devices in our police cars will greatly increase officer safety and aid us in searching dark or overgrown environments for people, whether they are victims or suspects, as well as evidence. When seconds can make all the difference, these devices can be a life saver!

Thank you VFW Post 7415!

At last nights board meeting, we were proud to be presented with our accreditation certificate as well as a plaque recognizing the Fairview Township Police Department as a Premier Accredited Agency. James Adams, Accreditation Program Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Chief's of Police Organization, was on hand to make the presentation. We are grateful for his recognition.

The Fairview Township Police Department was first accredited in February of 2004 and was one of only 11 agencies in the Commonwealth to reach this achievement at that time. In 2019 we attained the Premier Agency Status which we retained during this latest re-accreditation period. The Accreditation Commission considers their premier agencies to be in the "top echelon of agencies in Pennsylvania". We are 1 of only 24 police department's in Pennsylvania that have achieved this lofty status. We could not do this without the commitment of our dedicated officers and the hard work of our Accreditation Coordinator, Valjoy Galli.

On hand to accept the awards from Mr. Adams was Valjoy Galli, Lieutenant Davis Holland, and retiring Chief Jason Loper.

You can learn more about law enforcement accreditation in Pennsylvania by going to our website.

A throwback Thursday picture from 1991. Back before computers in the police cars were common, Sgt. Jerry Miller purchased one himself and had a bracket fabricated by a local machine shop so it would fit in a brief case. He then used it to complete incident reports in the car and for assisting with accident reconstruction.

Today is National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the start of National Police Week. It is the day we remember and honor more than 23,000 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. Flags are to be flown at staff from sunrise to sunset.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Please remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and the loved ones they left behind.

Poplin is a very pro-active officer in DUI and drug enforcement, as well as a department fi****ms instructor and a ballistic shield instructor. He taught not only officers here in the proper use of the shield, but also officers throughout York county in order to help keep them safe. In addition, he personally trained very hard to prepare himself both physically and mentally to pass the SWAT school held last year by the Maryland State Police. His positive attitude is infectious and he is well liked and respected by his peers. He is very deserving of the 2021 Officer of the Year award.

After more than 14 years, today was Administrative Assistant Jayne Burnett's last day at the police department. As a way to thank her for all she has done for us, we had a luncheon in her honor. She was presented with a custom vase by Remember it in Glass that contained her "badge number" in our department patch, along with her name and dates of service.

Jayne has been a valuable member of the agency and the work she did made all of our jobs easier. We want to thank her for all she has done for both the residents of Fairview Township and the police department. While we can replace the position she is leaving, we will not be able to replace the person.

We wish her much happiness in a well-deserved retirement! She will be missed!

A reminder that our lobby will be closing at noon today and reopening at 8:00 am Monday January 3rd. Officers will be available 24-hours a day and can be reached by calling 911 if needed.

We wish everyone a happy New Year, and want to remind everyone to celebrate New Year's Eve responsibly. If you will be drinking, please don't drive. The risk of doing so is not worth it, so plan ahead and have a designated driver. Also please be considerate of your neighbors if you have a party or are legally setting off consumer fireworks.

As we reflect on 2021, we again want to thank the residents of Fairview Township for your support throughout this past year. Over this holiday season we were overwhelmed with various cards and gifts including cookies, popcorn and even gift cards for local restaurants. Your support and generosity is truly appreciated and we look forward to serving you in the upcoming year.

Similarly, on Thursday December 30th, the lobby will be closing at noon and will re-open on Monday January 3rd for the New Year holiday.

These toys will go to some less fortunate kids in the local area to try and make their Christmas a little more special. We will be collecting toys through Monday December 13th, so there is still time to help. Please remember that the toys should be new and unwrapped.

There is a drop box in our lobby, which is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am -4:30pm. If you can't make it during that time, please call the station at 717-901-5267 during normal business hours and we will arrange for an officer to stop by your home or business to pick up the gifts.
