WVU Hancock County Extension Service

WVU Hancock County Extension Service Our office provides many local educational programs to area youth, families, schools, businesses, and communities.

These include agricultural knowledge, horticulture with the Master Gardeners, and 4-H programs, which are the most well-known aspects of the Extension Service. However, the organization today covers most aspects of rural and urban life in West Virginia. WVUโ€™s Hancock County Extension Office is part of the national land-grant system. .

๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿš€ The Sundowners 4-H Club were popping off at their annual picnic tonight!

We enjoyed a wonderful picnic together. A huge thank you to all of the club leaders and families who contributed food.

After dinner, 4-Hers became artists as they created paint rockets and learned how air pressure can be used to make unique works of art by pressurizing paint. It was exciting to watch the colorful creations take shape and see everyoneโ€™s creativity shine!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another great Sundowners 4-H Saddle Club & Friends picnic! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿš€

Yesterday we wrapped up our Storybook STEM program with the 3rd graders at Allen T. Allison Elementary School, Chester, WV! Students learned about the states of matter while creating and testing oobleck โ€” a non-Newtonian fluid that behaves like both a liquid and a solid depending on the force applied to it.

It was a fun hands-on experiment that encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork. We loved watching the students explore science through discovery and experimentation!
