Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C.R. Patil, highlighted the remarkable success of the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) initiative, under which more than 1.5 crore artificial groundwater recharge and water storage structures have been created across the country through a whole-of-society approach and active public participation.

The initiative promotes sustainable water conservation by strengthening groundwater recharge through rainwater harvesting, aquifer recharge, borewell recharge, recharge shafts, and other decentralized water management interventions, driven by the collaborative efforts of government agencies, industries, CSR partners, urban local bodies, and communities.

Every Municipal Corporation has been requested to aim at establishing a minimum of 10,000 recharge structures within its jurisdiction.
