Plumsted Twp:

Tonight is the night! National Night Out will be hosted today on 8/4/2026. It will be located at 117 Evergreen Road (NEHS) from 5pm to 9pm.

If you plan on attending the event please utilize the parking lot in front of NEHS or nearby parking lots at the middle school, O.C. Library, or Municipal Building. Their will be no parking behind the high school.

Vendor set up time will occur from 3pm to 5pm. Come out and meet your first responders and enjoy this fun family event!

We hope to see everyone there!

Plumsted Twp:

Yesterday was our 5th and final day of our junior police camp and we made every minute of it count. We started our morning off with a wheel barrel race.

Once completed we prepared for our family day demonstration and activities. Campers marched as one unit to the flag for our daily salute. Then we began our marching competition to see who our leader for the day would be. After this we returned to the field to setup and families began to arrive. Our campers did a great job marching and showing their families how hard they worked together to reach this moment. After this display, we tested their bearing. The rubber chicken bearing test ensued, and our campers and families got a great laugh out of it.

Ocean County Sheriff 911 arrived with their K-9, Drone, and Mounted Patrol units for demonstrations. Campers got to meet law enforcement animals, K9 Drogo, K9 Fiona and Patrol Horse Sangria! K9 Drogo showed off with a scent test, K9 Fiona was able to track a camper volunteer from the demonstration area all the way over to Primary school playground. Campers were also able to watch K9 Fiona have by sliding down a slide. In between the animal presentations was a high-tech demonstration of the drone capabilities. Campers were able to see how law enforcement collaborate together in search and rescue and other law enforcement objectives. Lastly, patrol horse Sangria was shown off. Campers got to learn a lot about all the resources available to Plumsted Police if needed to help serve the community.

Once the demonstrations were complete campers and families went inside and enjoyed a great lunch, and we took one last class photo for the families at camp. Then came the grand finale of the day and camp. New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit landed a helicopter at the Primary School for campers to see up close! Families and campers got to ask the officers about the helicopter and were able to even look inside of helicopter. Once the demonstration ended, campers left with families and the day was completed.

Our campers will be graduating on 8/4/26 at 6:30PM on stage during our National Night Out event. The event will run from 5pm to 9pm located at NEHS. Please come out a celebrate their hard work.

In addition to this update, the Plumsted Township Police Department would like to again extend its appreciation and gratitude for all our partner agencies and presenters New Jersey State Police Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Ocean County Sheriff 911 Plumsted Township Fire District #1 the Plumsted School District and last but not least the families of our campers for helping us create an informative, fun and successful junior police camp this year. We look forward to hosting this again next year.

Plumsted Twp:

Today was day 4 and we continued working diligently on our goal of being prepared for family day tomorrow and our graduation ceremony. We did our physical training and formation as we do every day.

Once the campers proved that they worked hard, we played some typical school games that were related to law enforcement. Another round of red light green light. And we played a cops and robbers game, campers were given permission to run from officers only during this game and instructed on why it is important to not do so when not in the game.

After our morning, we went inside to have lunch. Campers were so eager to compete against each other that after eating they had a wall sit competition with teams of three. New Jersey State Police Det. Veritas from ICACU came out and taught the campers about the importance of internet safety.

After that presentation our partners at Ocean County Prosecutor's Office A.P. Manos, A.P. Mezza and Agent Colwell came out to talk about what assistant prosecutors do and how they work hand in hand with police officers. Once the presentation was concluded, Campers were diligent in the crime scene analysis yesterday and this paid dividends as they were able to have mock trial with Agent Colwell presiding over the case as our judge. A ton of laughter ensued during this, but campers gained invaluable insight into how law enforcement works from the scene to the verdict.

This wrapped up day 4 for camp! Tomorrow is our last day, and we have a lot of really unique presentations for them on the final day. Please come out to National Night Out 8/4/26 from 5-9pm at NEHS to support our campers in their graduation ceremony.

Plumsted Twp:

Today was day 3 for our Junior Police Camp. We started the morning off strong with more formation and physical training. The after this we began to teach our campers how to work together as a team without using their voices to communicate and they were able to excel at this.

We continued to stay hydrated during this time and played one of our favorite games; red light green light from the primary school all the way back to ropes course.

Upon reaching the ropes course, we held an individual competition for campers to see who can make it through the obstacle course the fastest. Not only did the campers work hard to complete the course, but they showed great spirit by encouraging their fellow campers to complete the course. Upon completion of the competition, campers' arms around each other worked together to march back to the school in straight line.

After lunch New Jersey State Police Det. Fleming from the polygraph unit instructed the class about the history and usage of polygraphs. Two campers who have excelled not only today but all week were selected by the officers to demonstrate the polygraph test for the class. Once the test was complete, the class went over the results to learn more about it.

After our NJSP demonstration, Ocean County Sheriff 911 Detective Scheuerman from CSI instructed the class about her job as a crime scene investigator. She covered wide plethora of information for the campers. With that knowledge, campers had to investigate a mock crime scene.

Tomorrow more classes and interactive presentations are in store, and it will be our second to last day of camp. Please help us celebrate the hard work and progress the campers are making by joining us at National Night Out on 8/4/26 from 5 to 9pm at NEHS for their graduation ceremony.

Plumsted Township:

Day 2 of Junior Police Camp was great! And we had a quite the lineup of activities for our campers. We began the day with our normal formation practice and physical training. We focused on building all campers confidence as the person and as a part of the team. Each camper gave us their best battle cry because they were not being loud enough. After this we headed over to the ropes course courtesy of the school district and campers worked hard as squads to complete each task as a team. They cooperated and overcame all the challenges of the day.

We then had our lunch and prepared for our first presentation. Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Det Brylevskaya & Det Mitchell were kind enough to teach our campers about the prosecutor's office what they do as detectives for their respective units. Upon completion of the presentation, we transitioned into our impairment goggles that simulate different levels of B.A.C. Campers walked a course with and without the goggles on and campers got to learn about the dangers of driving while under the influence.

Once this lesson concluded we had a water balloon war with them. Courtesy of a donation from one of our campers' parents we even had a water slide! Plumsted Township Fire District #1 was able to assist and setting up some extra hoses to spray and we all got soaked! Luckily, we beat the thunderstorm. We would like to give a special thank you to the building and grounds crew of school district for the incredible and invaluable help setting up today.

Plumsted Township:

Today was the first day of our Junior Police Camp. We would like to give a big thank you to the Plumsted Township School District for allowing us to host the camp once again at the Primary School, for the entire week!

We had a great start to the camp! Our Junior Police Campers learned a lot today about what it takes to be a police officer. From the start of the day, we worked on physical training and our marching/ formation movements. These campers were ready and eager to learn everything they can. After this Officers Miserendino, Goldfluss and Zagacki gave tours and demonstrations of our new fleet vehicles.

Once we ate lunch, Plumsted Township Fire District #1 arrived with rescue vehicles and were able to help get the campers ready for the next part of the day. We finished our day at the firehouse where campers got to learn about what fire fighters do as well as the EMT's. Practical demonstrations were shown with camper participants, and they were even able to put out a controlled fire under direct supervision from the fire company. We would also like to thank all the members from the fire department who helped the police department in providing a well-rounded program for our Junior Police Camp.

This only the beginning of our camp and more updates and pictures to follow in the coming days. Stay tuned to see what else Junior Police Campers get to experience.

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer, just a quick reminder to stay tuned for our Junior Police Camp updates starting on the 27th! As well as National Night Out on 8/4/26 from 5pm to 9pm at NEHS.

Today Officers (L to R) Zagacki, Roemmele and Goldfluss were able to stop by the Elk's on Lakewood Rd and get a nice refreshing cup of lemonade from future entrepreneurs!
