Informative video about safe securing of weapons in vehicles, but it is always suggested to remove any valuable items including weapons when leaving the vehicle unattended while locking the vehicle in attempted to deter unwanted entry by others.

Too many fi****ms are stolen from vehicles. Leaving a gun unsecured in your car ‘just this once’ is one time too many. Learn more about properly securing a gun in your vehicle at https://lnkd.in/eW5_Z3qE.

We would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the New Ellenton Atomic City Festival, and we would like to address the reasons being a series of events that occurred tonight.

The New Ellenton Police Department responded to (4) known altercations in the park and another incident where it was alleged someone was believe to have left but was returning to the festival with intent to cause harm to someone else.

There then was another incident after the final altercation mentioned that (2) males in all black had entered the park restrooms and brandished handguns to load them then secured them on themselves and exited. A bystander contacted a nearby Officer to advise of their observation and a safety sweep of the direct area where multiple individuals wearing backpacks believed to possibly be involved was conducted. No fi****ms were located but due to an already volatile and tense situation, it was determined a short time later by Chief Solomon at around 8:45PM that the event end immediately with safety concerns for all present to have everyone return to the vehicles and leave the area to ensure everyone be kept safe from threats said to be made of the individuals causing harm to others within the crowd which consisted of families ranging from infants to elderly people.

This decision was not made lightly and was swiftly enacted by our Officers to reduce the likelihood that any harm could be made. The fireworks were delayed until all non-essential people had made their ways to the vehicles and left the Park/Farmers Market/Community Center areas.

We would like to apologize to everyone for the abrupt end of the night and especially to those that were not able to the fireworks after the immediate evacuation made by Chief Solomon in efforts to ensure the safety of all present. Public safety was the absolute priority tonight and thank you everyone for your understanding during that hectic time.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time and feel free to share any pictures showing the memories you made while attending the City of New Ellenton 2026Atomic City Festival!

We are receiving complaints from a few citizens about some suspicious activity to include missing items from their vehicles. We urge all citizens to ensure their vehicles are cleared of any valuable items and lock them before leaving them unattended.

Please, slow down and move over! We all have families to make it back home to, drive safe and get home the same time if not better than you left it. Our hearts go out to the Willis family and Wayne’s looking back at this tragedy.
