The members of our department extend our deepest condolences to the Rittman Police Department following the tragic loss of one of their officers in the line of duty.

Our thoughts are with the fallen officer’s family, friends, and fellow officers, as well as the officers who were wounded during this tragic incident. We also stand with the emergency personnel from the various agencies who responded with courage and professionalism under incredibly difficult circumstances.

Please keep everyone affected by this tragedy in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Today begins National Police Week, a time to honor the brave men and women across our country who serve their communities with courage, integrity, and dedication.

We also remember the fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we honor the families who carry their legacy forward.

On behalf of the New Franklin Police Department, thank you to all law enforcement officers — past and present — and to the families who support them every day. We are also grateful for the dedication and service of our own officers, who work tirelessly to keep our community safe.

Today, we honor and celebrate all mothers and mother figures in our community. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the love you give, and the support and guidance you provide each day. Your impact on your families and our community is truly appreciated.

Here are some warning signs you may be getting scammed:

• Pressure to act immediately
• Threats of arrest, fines, or account closure
• Requests for payment by gift cards, crypto, wire transfer, or payment apps
• Requests for personal or banking information

Steps on how to protect yourself:

• Slow down and verify the information
• Never share personal or banking information with unknown callers
• Don’t click suspicious links
• Contact companies directly using official numbers/websites
