The New Freedom 4th of July Parade is CANCELLED!

Due to the extreme heat advisories and significant health risk called for this Saturday, July 4th, we are unfortunately cancelling the Parade. The safety of our participants, volunteers, public safety personnel, and spectators are our top priority.

We are actively exploring plans to reschedule our parade for sometime around the Labor Day holiday to continue the celebration of our wonderful town and America's 250th. Details will be announced once finalized!

Thank you for your support and understanding, and we hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend!

Extreme Heat Watch issued June 29 at 2:22AM EDT until July 3 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS State College PA

Southern Centre; Huntingdon; Mifflin; Juniata; Fulton; Franklin; Southern Clinton; Southern Lycoming; Union; Snyder; Montour; Northumberland; Columbia; Perry; Dauphin; Schuylkill; Lebanon; Cumberland; Adams; York; Lancaster

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values between
105 and 110.

* WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very warm low temperatures, mainly in the low
to mid 70s at night will not offer much relief from the heat. This
combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures
will amplify the impacts from the heat and humidity.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in an
air-conditioned room. Remember your pets and provide them with
plenty of water and shade if left outdoors.

The very first York County Bell Across PA has officially been installed along the Heritage Rail Trail, right beside our New Freedom Train Station Museum! 🚂🔔
This beautiful new addition arrived just in time for the Northern Central Railway ’s Semiquincentennial American Exhibition, happening this weekend, June 27 & 28 from 10 AM – 4 PM right here in New Freedom.
If you’re visiting the exhibition, make sure to:

• Check out the free New Freedom Train Station Museum 🚉
• And of course, admire the brand‑new Bell Across PA!
