In Memory of William "Wild Bill" Copenhaver

It is with profound sadness that the Officers and Members of the Rose Fire Company #1 announce the passing of William "Wild Bill" Copenhaver Jr. Bill served as a long time member of our department serving in the capacity of Fire Police and dedicating countless hours over the years. Bill will be remembered as always having a smile on his face and willing to help anyone who needed him.

Please join us in extending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Rest easy Bill, we will take it from here.

A word from our brothers in blue.

When in doubt, just stop, don’t chance it.

With the start of a new school year quickly approaching, the Southern Regional Police Department would like to remind motorists to use extra caution as school buses return to our roadways. 🚌📚

When a school bus activates its red flashing lights and stop arm, STOP and remain stopped. Remember, depending on the roadway, vehicles traveling in both directions may be required to stop.

Please also watch for children walking to and from bus stops, allow extra travel time during the morning and afternoon hours, and avoid distractions behind the wheel.

⚠️ Slow down. Stay alert. Protect our students.

When in doubt, STOP! 🛑

Rescue Box 45-21, Middletown Rd.

At 11:40 AM Tower 58 was requested as part of a rescue assignment to the intersection of Middletown Road and Baker schoolhouse Road.

Tower 58 w/3 responded within 2 minutes of dispatch. Units responding were giving the additional information that one vehicle left the roadway into a wooded area and a tree had fallen down on it with occupants still inside.

A second call into 911 advised that the car has now caught fire and was spreading quickly towards a house. BC6 upgraded the box to a Fire Box and Tanker Strike Team.

Tower 58 arrived first on scene and made an attempt to knock the fire down with water/foam cans and dry chem extinguishers to search the vehicle for occupants. Tower 58 crew was able to verify that no occupants were in the vehicle and the driver sustained minor injuries only.

Parkton Engine 60 arrived on scene, pulling a hand line to extinguish the fire. Engine 58-2 arrived and supplied E60 with water.

Crews remained in scene for a hour before returning to New Freedom

What an incredible turnout for National Night Out right here in New Freedom hosted by Southern Regional Police Department - York County

Volunteers from Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company and your hometown New Freedom Fire Department kicked off the evening with exclusive, hands-on tours of our frontline apparatus and rescue equipment. All departments preformed a joint-department live demonstration of teamwork and tactics, and successfully executed full door removals to simulate rapid patient access, dash rolls to free trapped occupants & a complete roof removals on two separate vehicles. This event highlighted the coordination, advanced training, and dedication of our local first responders. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the teams that keep our communities safe every single day!
