I just wanted to acknowledge and say Thank You to the ladies and gentleman who joined our meeting this past Tuesday. We are a small group of volunteers, so to have 8 new faces willingly join us, it’s a blessed reminder that our community wants to support this need - next meeting is Tuesday evening January 13, 2026.

Thank you, and we hope you will join us again, as well as more community members, so we can ensure the New Freedom Cemetery is well cared for centuries into the future! 🙌🏼

Good morning, community friends and neighbors! Please consider joining the New Freedom Cemetery’s semi-annual meeting tomorrow night Tuesday 7/15 at 7:00pm in the cemetery building on the property - we need community members to join our Association, with a few hours of time each year to bring your giving minds and thoughtful ideas.

Important Tidbits: The New Freedom Cemetery is a stand-alone association; we have no church affiliations, no entity backing the care of our property. We generate revenue to maintain the property through lot sales and donations from community members.

Many do not realize, most cemeteries were started and continue with affiliations through local churches. New Freedom does not have this backing of support, so volunteers are who will help ensure the property is maintained for centuries into the future.

There’s several local cemeteries, most small yet some very large who have lost their churches to being sold, and once the maintenance support ends, there’s no one to ensure the cemetery is cared for - not even mowed regularly. If a cemetery can’t take care of itself, the property deed is turned over to the state. Unfortunately, the property becomes low on their care list and some fall into a terrible, unsightly mess of disrepair, and some become unable to even visit loved ones.

Please consider joining our Association, as we know first hand through our time volunteering and other cemeteries coming to us, requesting we take over care for their cemetery as well. Those gone before us, today, tomorrow, and future generations need us!

🎤 On behalf of the New Freedom Cemetery Association - Our small group of members are seeking more volunteers. We need more caring, compassionate individuals who have ties to loved ones gone before us and buried in the cemetery, or community members who may have a few hours of time to spare throughout the year. Currently, we're a group of a dozen or so people who oversee what happens on the cemetery property of 16 acres. We meet two times per year, for about 2.5 hours, making financial decisions and updates on the happenings within the cemetery.

Mowing? No we hire a professional for this.
Landscaping? No we have this maintenance donated.

So what do we need? We need your mind, your heart, and your desire to want to give back somehow in the community, with a few hours of light work.

What do we do during the year?
📌 Two meetings per year - January and July
📌 Monthly cleanup of the property - each person/couple takes one month (maybe two) throughout the year, clearing wilted flowers or trash from the cemetery
📌 New ideas - discuss how we can improve the cemetery
📌 Projects - implementing how to accomplish tasks that need done around the property, with donations or community service (ie: new trees, upgrading our storage building, new center circle patio and scattering area, future pet cemetery area)
📌 Emails - we stay connected and up to date amongst the association members, with what's happening and any emergent situations that can't wait for our next meeting.

Please consider joining us for our next meeting, Tuesday July 15th 6:00pm for pizza dinner, 7:00pm meeting at the cemetery in our storage building on the property (mint green). We're a welcoming group of locals, and we'd love to have your thoughts and ideas join us!!!

Feel free to FB message us or email [email protected] for more details.

Thank you to the SYC Youth Club Baseball players, parents, and helping hands for their time and efforts to clean up the wreaths at the Cemetery this morning. They were up and out early, and we’re so appreciative of their work to help keep the Cemetery looking good for our loved ones.

Thank you from all of us at the Association!

Community members, there will be no displaying of political signs on the grounds of the New Freedom Cemetery, which includes all grass areas and the adjacent field on the corner of Campbell and Reehling. This cornfield is also cemetery property, so we will not allow any political signs to be displayed on the grounds where our loved ones are laid to rest.

Political signs will be removed from our grounds as soon as I am aware, so please display them on your own property.

NOTE: I do not live in NF, so if you see a sign, kindly drop me a message here and I’ll have it removed. Thank you!

Thank you to John with Grace Brockmyer Electrical Services, not only for the use of his bucket truck but for braving the heights to fix our flag pole. Thank you John, Brian and Jim for making sure our flag can once again fly high to remember those gone before us. 🇺🇸

Memorial Flags: Flags were installed last week by our friends at the New Freedom VFW. If you have a family member or friend laid to rest (Veterans receive flags in honor of their service) and they did not receive a flag placement on their grave, please respond here or email [email protected] so we can make sure a flag is placed and they are added to the list for VFW. Unfortunately their list is provided by York County and not as up to date as they would hope.

Please enjoy the Memorial Day weekend safely!
