National Police Week

During National Police Week, the New Glarus Police Department proudly honors the men and women of law enforcement who serve our communities with courage, integrity, and dedication each and every day.

This week is a time to recognize the sacrifices made by officers across the nation and to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty protecting others. We extend our deepest gratitude to all current and retired law enforcement professionals, dispatchers, and support personnel who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

To our officers and staff - thank you for your unwavering commitment to service above self. Your professionalism, compassion, and resilience do not go unnoticed.

Beginning Monday, May 11th, we will be starting to flush fire hydrants and operate our main line valves. While doing so, you may experience discolored water. If this happens, run your cold tap until it comes clear. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 608-214-4424.

Raise the roof!

Progress is being made at the ball field at Vet’s Park. Thanks to a generous donation from the New Glarus School District, our dugouts got an upgrade today with a metal roof to protect players and coaches from the elements.

A big shout-out to staff from New Glarus Utilities, Public Works, and NGSD for their hard work on this part of the project!

Having lunch at Culver's this Saturday helps us better help you! Bring the kids and meet our crews for "Share Day" at the Culver’s in New Glarus from 11am until 2pm! Proceeds will be shared with Sugar River EMS to help us purchase new equipment!

The Village celebrated another successful Arbor Day Tree Planting with a wonderful group of volunteers, led by Village Forester Paul Jennrich.
The group worked all day on Friday, May 1 planting trees, and cleaning up around the Village. A special thank you to the volunteers, especially Mrs. Mielke and the New Glarus School District students for your help!

Forester Paul Jennrich does a great job of keeping the Village green and filled with beautiful trees. Thanks Paul!

This summer, Village staff will be training volunteers in the appropriate methods of cleaning headstones, in accordance with the guidelines laid out by the National Parks Service. We will be working in the oldest section of the cemetery (the north east corner, between Highway 39 and the Swiss Historical Village). All due care will be exercised to prevent harm to the stones.

If you have a family member buried in the North East section of the cemetery and you DO NOT want their headstone cleaned, please contact cemetery manager Scott McNett no later than Friday, May 22nd with your request. Cleaning will begin after Memorial Day and continue on various days throughout the summer months.

It is Municipal Clerk Week.

Shari Cash is the frontline in the Clerk's office and is usually the one over the phone. She handles absentee voting, permits and licensing. Shari is amazing as a person and team member

It was one year ago today that we said goodbye to our sweet Miss Brooke. Although she's not here to see the beautiful new library that was her dream, her memory will always be with us. In remembrance of her love of books and her storytime kiddos, our new storytime room is named in her honor. We can't wait to begin welcoming new generations of little ones into the library!
