All right folks, this is it - it's your very last day to visit us at our Village Hall location! We're open until 7 PM if you need to stock up on reading material to get you through the next three weeks.

Goodbye office so cramped and small,
Goodbye scuffed and stained old wall.

Goodbye desk all chipped and battered,
Goodbye chair all torn and tattered.

Goodbye doors that squeal and screech,
Goodbye bookcases too tall to reach.

Goodbye stacks so narrow and tight,

TONIGHT!

Please join us for a very special presentation by Dr. Melanie Lorenz! She'll be talking about the historical context of Swiss immigration to New Glarus in the 19th century.

This talk brings the rich local history of New Glarus in connection with broader developments in Switzerland and in the United States in the nineteenth century, focusing on how the Swiss migration to New Glarus developed, how it was shaped by state iniatives and how it compared to other immigration movements in the nineteeth century.

This event will meet in the Village Hall community room. Please enter through the back doors.

Did you know that one of the new features in LINKcat is the ability to change your hold pickup location?!?

Log in to your LINKcat account and click on the "Holds" tab
Select the holds you wish to update by clicking the checkboxes to the left of the item pictures
Click "edit pickup location" and select your new pickup location

Why are we telling you this? We want you to be able to keep getting your holds while we're closed for moving! If you need to change your pickup location, please do so by this THURSDAY. On Friday, library staff will be suspending all active holds for New Glarus.

The last day to pick up holds at our current location is next Wednesday, May 13th. Any holds remaining on the shelf at closing time will be checked in, and a new hold will be placed for the item, to be picked up after June 4th.

High schoolers, are you looking for an opportunity to earn service hours AND make a difference in our community?

The New Glarus Public Library Board of Trustees has an opening for a student representative. We are accepting applications for this position from New Glarus High School students.

This is a one-year commitment, from May 2026 to May 2027. The student representative would attend our monthly meetings, give reports, and participate in discussions. The student and the board would come up with at least one project that they could take ownership of. Applications are due by May 15th.
