🚧HYDRANT REPLACEMENT PROJECT–WATER SHUT-OFFS TUESDAY 🚧
The City of New Hampton will continue its hydrant replacement project on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Over the next several weeks, water service may be temporarily shut off in areas where hydrants are being replaced.
The planned locations include:
📍 E. Hamilton Street & S. 4th Ave. - First location beginning today
📍 E. Sunset Street & S. 1st Ave.
📍 S. 4th Ave. & Parker Street
📍 Smith Estates Mobile Home Park
📍 Ashland Drive
📍 W. Spring Street & S. Maple Ave.
📍 McCloud Way & S. Locust Ave.

Residents in affected areas may experience a temporary interruption in water service while the hydrant work is completed. Check your water before doing laundry. Hydrant replacement work may temporarily cause rust or discoloration in the water. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the City’s water system.

Locate flags are essential to this project and help our crews safely identify underground utilities. Please do not remove, move, or disturb the flags until the work has been completed. Without these flags, our crews cannot safely and efficiently do their jobs.

🚰 Hydrant Replacement Project – Beginning August 17
Starting Monday, August 17, 2026, the City of New Hampton will begin replacing several fire hydrants throughout the community. The work is expected to take place over the next 30 days.
A few important reminders for residents:
💧 Check your water before doing laundry. Hydrant replacement work may temporarily cause rust or discoloration in the water.
🚿 Your water service may be disconnected briefly while a hydrant is being replaced.
📍 We will provide updates when we know the location and timing of upcoming hydrant replacements.

🚧 East Main Street Construction Update 🚧

The Iowa Department of Transportation is continuing work on East Main Street.

The final resurfacing of the roadway is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, weather permitting.

Please use caution when traveling through the area, expect possible delays, and follow all posted traffic signs and directions from construction crews.

Notice is hereby given that on the 20th day of July, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. the City Council of New Hampton, Iowa will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers at 112 East Spring Street to accept input regarding the amending of the City Code of New Hampton, specifically adding Chapter 77 Personal Transportation Devices (electric scooters, electric bikes, and other mobility devices.)

Anyone interested may appear at the above stated time and place for the public hearing and be heard or may file written comments in person or mail to the City Clerk, of New Hampton, Iowa at the 112 East Spring Street, New Hampton, Iowa, 50659. Written comments must be received in the City Clerk’s office before 4:30 PM on the date of said hearing.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF NEW HAMPTON, IOWA NORTH LINN WATER EXTENSION LOOP- PHASE 2

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the CITY OF NEW HAMPTON on the proposed contract documents (plans, specifications, and form of contract) and opinion of probable cost for improvement at its City Council meeting at 7:00 pm local time on Monday, July 20th, 2026 in the Council Chamber located at 112 East Spring Street, New Hampton, IA 50659 for the proposed NORTH LINN WATER EXTENSION LOOP- PHASE 2 project. The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost for the work is $334,350.

Time and Place for Filing Sealed Bids
Notice is hereby given that sealed bids for the work comprising improvement as stated below must be filed before 1:00 pm on Tuesday July 14th, 2026 at City Hall, 112 East Spring Street, New Hampton, IA 50659. This sealed bid must be filed in two separate envelopes (one for bid documents and one for 5% bid bond). Bids received after the deadline for submission of bids as stated herein shall not be considered and shall be returned to the late bidder unopened.
