We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Chickasaw County Community Foundation for awarding Chickasaw County EMS $3,318 in funding this year!

This funding allowed us to purchase Lifeblankets, which provide multiple benefits for both our patients and our crew. Lifeblankets help keep patients warm during the cold months, can be used as transfer pads to assist with safe patient movement, and serve as barrier liners to maintain cleanliness on our cots.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community and organizations like the Chickasaw County Community Foundation. Your investment helps us provide safer, more efficient care to those we serve.

Yesterday, the Chickasaw County Community Foundation (CCCF) celebrated the power of local giving at its 2026 Grant Awards, held April 16 at the New Hampton Community Center, announcing the distribution of $155,185.23 to 24 projects serving Chickasaw County through its 2026 grant cycle.

Supporting initiatives across health and safety, opportunity and access, vibrant communities, and youth empowerment, these grants will fund a wide range of impactful projects, from emergency response equipment and food access to community facility improvements, and public spaces. This year’s funding reflects the generosity of local donors and the dedication of nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and community leaders working to strengthen Chickasaw County.

Congratulations to all of this year’s grant recipients, and thank you to our volunteer impact committee for your thoughtful leadership in this process.

They literally tell us where to go—we’d be lost without them! 🚑 Thanks to our telecommunicators who work around the clock to serve us all. 🎉 Fun fact: We have three EMS crew members who are dual-trained in EMS and dispatch! 🚨 Shout-out to Paramedic Carly and EMTs Bridget and Amy. Thanks for all you do!

This week, we proudly recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and extend our sincere appreciation to the dedicated dispatchers of the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Our telecommunicators are the calm voice in moments of crisis, the steady hand behind every call for help, and the critical link between our deputies, emergency responders, and the public. Their professionalism, compassion, and ability to think quickly under pressure make a difference in countless lives every single day.

While their work often goes unseen, it never goes unnoticed. We are grateful for their commitment, their service, and their unwavering support of our community and first responders.

Please join us in thanking our dispatch team for all they do to keep Chickasaw County safe.

Our lives were changed forever when our colleague and friend passed while on duty one year ago today. This year has brought much reflection on how fleeting and precious life is. Yesterday over 50 people gathered as friends, family and crew members to honor the life of Brock Schmidt. We blessed the bench dedicated to his memory. Brock, we think of you often and miss your smile. “Cowboy Medicine” isn’t the same without you, but we know you’re riding with the angels and watching over our crew each day.

THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported us at the 5th Annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fundraiser!

Your generosity and community spirit mean so much to Chickasaw County EMS and the Alta Vista Fire Association. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, combined donations from the event raised over $17,000!

People often ask how they can help support their community without ever having to jump on a fire truck or ambulance, this is exactly how!! Your support at events like this directly helps us continue serving and protecting our community.

Thank you to everyone who donated, helped organize the event, and came out to support us. We are truly grateful to be part of such an amazing community and we’re already looking forward to next year!
