ANAAY is planning on changing their name! We want to be more inclusive of our Indigenous relatives from around the world, not just those Indigenous to what is now known as North America, and want the (anonymous) feedback of current students and alumni. Please fill out this brief form (linked below), and contact [email protected] or [email protected] with any questions!

Join professional dancers Iman and Khadijah as they share their stories, movements, and journeys as Muslim, Tsalagi, and Black Jamaican twins. This session will encompass guided movement (a flow of breath and intensional postures), dance, and collective conversation. All are welcome, no prior dance experience necessary.

For Iman and Khadijah, dance is an expression of their Muslim religion. The twins never set foot on the stage without their Hijabs. The dancers are 2016 National YoungArts Award recipients and the youngest artists to win a Minnesota Sage Cowles. With all the art they bring to the world, they create spaces of peace, beauty, meditation, and acceptance.

Due to covid restrictions, we are not having an in person gathering this year for the MMIW Vigil (usually recognized on Feb 14th).

But today, Feb 17th, please feel free to join our community zoom reflection space from 7-9pm! The room is open for anyone who identifies as Indigenous from 7-8pm, and from 8-9pm open to all. DM for link:)

We will just be relaxing and connecting virtually. Come to craft, study, chat, or share your thoughts. We hope to see you there, but also, with the start of school Zoom can be so overwhelming! Choose your peace and health first ❤️

You can find resources on this graphic created by the beautiful and talented IHAC: Alex!

Love,
