The best part of being the fire service are the relationships built and friendships made over time.

Today, October 31st 2025, marks the end of a storied career. Captain William (Bill) Musilli has hung up his helmet and retired after nearly 19 years of service to the New Haven Fire Department.

Captain Musilli has had an amazing career and made a difference in countless people’s lives. He’s been involved in nearly everything we do as a department and in our communities, as well as helped train our firefighters and medical staff as they began and continued their careers. He has been apart of hurricane response, countless Fight For Air climbs, thousands of medical/fire emergencies, and so much more.

While it’s the end of this chapter, Captain Musilli will continue to shape future firefighters through different Instructor capacities, further proving his commitment to the profession.

We wish you the very best, Cap!

You will see increased child pedestrian traffic today in and around Decora's Park. NHE will be doing their color run! Route will be Wingham, Thatcher, Tanglewood, and the Blvd. FD will be on standby with our new Fire Prevention Trailer, come check it out from 930-1200.

🎉 Merritt Academy Homecoming Parade Road Closures & Information 🎉

Get ready to show your school spirit! The Merritt Academy Homecoming Parade is happening Friday, October 10, 2025, and we've got the details you need for a smooth and spirited afternoon.

🚧 Road Closure Alert 🚧
Please note the following temporary road closures for the parade route:

When: Road closures will begin around 1:15 PM (1315) and are expected to last until approximately 2:15 PM (1415).

Parade Start: The parade will step off promptly at 1:30 PM (1330).

Route: The parade will travel North on Havenridge, starting at Fountain Park and concluding at Merritt Academy.

Major Intersection Closure: Clark St. will be completely closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic at Havenridge Rd. for the duration of the parade.

Please plan your travel accordingly and use alternate routes during these times.
