So much of our Italian American culture was transmitted through the spoken word, our ancient southern Italian oral history tradition dating to Magna Grecia and "The Odyssey." Tune in and listen to these voices of the elderly recorded more than 40 years ago, who tell their stories of daily life in southern Italy in their own voices, first hand testimonies we will all recognize from our own familial stories handed down through the generations.

I retired (silly word for anyone who knows me) this past Friday; for those wishing stay in touch with me -- [email protected] My last day at the library was magical; besides a very memorable sendoff from my staff and fellow managers, I was asked to continue presenting the "Anthony tour" of Sterling, highlighting the importance of the "architecture of inspiration" that we have all experienced at library. I am very pleased to still be part of the Yale community and people call my series of images of Sterling iconic.
