The LRRT Virtual Mentorship Program matches novice researchers (mentees) with mentors experienced in library and information science research methodologies. If you are eager to share your experiences and learn from emerging researchers, we encourage you to consider becoming a mentor. Who remembers learning to search Dialog in library school? Or was one of those special librarians trusted to use it effectively for patron research? Every search carried charges on dial-up connections and subscription costs, so patrons did not use it directly; a librarian would do a comprehensive research interview and then provide a patron with the search results. Hopefully, the library put enough in the annual budget to provide answers for a year of inquiries!

A research scientist at Lockheed, he came up with the idea for a computer system that would search scientific and technical literature almost instantaneously.

Book Bans threaten democracy, and it’s clear that the latest series of censorship attempts are not about the work, but about the identities of those who write and read them.

NJ has an obligation to fight back against these attacks, and to set an example for the nation in defending the right to access information.

"A new law here in New Jersey is a counter to the alarming number of book bans happening across the nation. The act includes legal protections for librarians who have come under fire from conservative groups, like Moms For Liberty, for merely doing their job and providing access to the full breadth of material libraries have to offer. In addition the act includes measures to curb bad faith actors from elbowing their way into the collections of school and public libraries to keep you from reading material they deem offensive. Book banning is one of the first chapters in the authoritarian handbook, which you should have the right to read no matter how offensive I find it.
