Public Announcement:

Starting tomorrow 5/14 around noon, the KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife will be having a control burn of 50 acres on the Abbey of Gethsemani property. This is a control burn. Most of the burn will take place on the New Hope side of the monastery.

Today some of our members along side Raywick Fire Department and Loretto Fire Dept 393 laid to rest, past Loretto Chief, and current Raywick memberTroy Hardin. We are honored to stand with our brothers and sisters to say our final goodbyes. Prayers and peace for the family, friends, and fellow responders. Rest easy Chief.

This afternoon was very busy in Nelson County. In our response area we responded to this head on crash, and while working the scene were dispatched to a medical call on the other side of town. Thank you to all agencies for mutual aid.

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 12:59 PM, deputies responded to a serious head-on collision in the 4100 block of Balltown Road.
​Injuries: Five patients were transported to local hospitals.
​Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
​Deputy Gillingham is continuing the investigation.
Assistance provided on scene by Nelson County Dispatch, Larue County EMS, Nelson County EMS, New Hope Fire, and Nelson County Fire

Community, tomorrow the KY Fish and Wildlife will be conducting a live burn of ~100 acres. Large plumes of smoke will be seen in the Monks RD, Abby, and New Hope area. This is a controlled burn....Ignition time is 11am.
