Membership in the YVN is open to all employees, regardless of veteran status. The employee resource group will focus on community philanthropy, recruiting new employees and helping develop the careers of veterans.

Come enjoy shaved ice and military history at the VetMil office! Families welcome. Join us for 'Salutes and Scoops' on Sunday, September 7th at 35 Broadway (behind Mory’s). Shaved ice will be served from 2:00–3:00 PM, followed by a guided military history tour from 3:00–4:00 PM. A fun and educational afternoon for all ages!

All are invited to the Perspectives for Inclusion lecture in celebration of Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month. Antonia Coello Novello, former Surgeon General of the United States, will discuss her book, "Duty Calls: Lessons Learned from an Unexpected Life of Service."

Dr. Novello’s story is one of enduring commitment to public health and leadership — including becoming the first woman and first Hispanic to serve as U.S. Surgeon General, a long career with the National Institutes of Health, serving as New York State Commissioner of Health during 9/11, and coordinator of health care resources in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Her countless awards include the U.S. Army’s Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service, the National Guard Merit Cross Medal, the National Women’s Hall of Fame, and the AMA Board of Trustees Special Award for Meritorious Service.

Harkness Veteran's House Painting (New Haven) - Monday, 9/29: 9 AM - 12 PM

Join United Way of Greater New Haven at Columbus House's Harkness House for Veterans. This program provides housing and support for homeless male Veterans, connecting them to services, expanding their social and employment skills, and encouraging reconnection to their communities. Sign-up and help to repaint the buildings hallways and stairwell!

This workshop is open to all and geared toward service members and veteran allies. We will cover tools and strategies to better care for yourself and your community, and to preserve the necessary energy for change.

Participants will:
🔹Learn how to identify burnout and how to create effective boundaries to preserve your energy and strengthen your relationships.
🔹Look at strategies and starters for setting boundaries in multiple areas of your life.
🔹Explore personal experiences of useful and ineffective boundaries, and goals and needs.
