National Police Week is a time to honor and remember the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving their communities. It is also a time to recognize the dedication, courage, and commitment shown every day by those who continue to wear the badge.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all surrounding law enforcement agencies and communities for your continued partnership, support, and service. Together, we work to keep our communities safe, strong, and united.

Please join us this week in remembering the fallen, supporting their families, and thanking the officers who continue to serve with honor each day.

Today, SRO Carter visited Mr. Mueller’s health class to talk with students about teenagers and alcohol.

He shared the consequences of underage drinking, eye-opening statistics, and how alcohol can impact decision-making, safety, and future opportunities.

Students also got a hands-on look at impairment as SRO Carter walked a volunteer through Standardized Field Sobriety Tests using “drunk goggles,” which simulate the effects of being over the legal blood alcohol limit.

Experiences like this help students better understand the real-life risks and make safer, more informed choices.

Please join us in welcoming back Officer Mark Meyers, who was recently sworn in, to the New Holstein Police Department! He has filled our final open position and brings with him 10 years of law enforcement experience—including the start of his career right here in our community.

Officer Meyers is excited to return to New Holstein and is looking forward to reconnecting with residents, building new relationships, and continuing to serve. He values the opportunity to engage with the community beyond calls for service, something that makes policing in New Holstein truly special—and a big reason he chose to come back.

Officer Meyers made a special request upon his return—to be assigned his original badge number, which was proudly granted. Over the past 4.5 years, he served with the UW-Green Bay Police Department. Before that, he worked as an officer in Randolph, WI, and also spent time with the Wisconsin DNR.

Outside of work, Officer Meyers enjoys staying active in sports, especially golfing and cheering on the Packers, Badgers, and Bucks. He also values time with his wife and daughter, embracing whatever adventures come their way.

If you see Officer Meyers out and about in the community, be sure to say hello and help us give him a warm welcome back!

We’ve been getting more complaints lately about semi-trucks parked on city streets, so we wanted to send out a quick reminder.

New Holstein Ordinance 5.05(12) does not allow trucks over 2½ ton capacity with commercial plates to be parked on city streets for more than 60 minutes, unless they are actively loading, unloading, or providing a service.

Officers will be enforcing this ordinance to help ensure our streets remain accessible for everyone. We appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our community safe.
