In 2024, our community suffered a great loss with the passing of our dear friend and volunteer, Gregg Berens.

Gregg loved the “I Golf Because I CARE” Tournament and championed it for many years to support our mission, each year raising more money than the year before- blowing our records out of the water. Unfortunately, he left this earthly home on 2/28/24. From then on, we decided to honor Gregg and his tremendous dedication by naming this fundraising event the “Gregg Berens Memorial, I Golf Because I CARE Tournament.”

What a full-circle moment for The CARE Center. ❤️

Twenty-six years ago, The CARE Center began with a vision from members of Cove Church who recognized the unmet needs in our rural communities. Today, we are incredibly grateful that they continue to be such an important part of our mission.

Pastor John Tanner recently challenged Cove Church members and families to give toward sustaining the New Hope Community Learning Center, with the church matching gifts up to $20,000. In less than three weeks, their congregation raised the full $20,000, and Cove Church matched it!

Pastor John presented the matching check at our Advisory Board meeting, making this moment even more special. NHCLC was The CARE Center’s first developmental ministry, and to see the church that helped inspire our beginning continue to support it 26 years later means so much.

Thank you, Cove Church, Pastor John, and every person who gave. Your generosity is making a lasting impact on our students and families! ❤️
