Tuesday May 12,2020 the New Hyde Park Fire Department responded to a working fire in a 2 1/2 story private dwelling on Hillside Blvd. Protection and arrived first due and along with the other NHPFD companies and mutual aid departments made quick work of the fire. #172 @ New Hyde Park, New York

Yesterday, the Officers and Members of Protection Engine Co. #2 said goodbye to our brother, 46 year member and Ex-Captain, Mark Farina. Mark was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, taken to soon. He will never be forgotten. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.

This Saturday, May 2nd, 2020, Protection Engine Co. 2, accompanied by the rest of the New Hyde Park Fire Department will be giving our brother firefighter, Ex-Captain Mark Farina, the best send off we can during these unprecedented times. We invite all friends and family to join us as we line the streets of 1st Avenue and South 5th Street as the procession passes by the firehouse. Anyone looking to participate is asked to meet in the Holy Spirit Parking lot on South 5th Street at 10:15 AM and to start lining up. Anyone who wishes to participate but with a little more social distancing, we ask that you line the streets along the route that Mark will take from the New Hyde Park Funeral home. The procession from the funeral home is scheduled to start at 10:50 AM. For Mark’s final goodbye, we strongly urge everyone participating to follow the social distancing and preventive protocols that NYS has put in place. Mark was a big part of the Protection family with dedicating 46 years to the company and deserves nothing but the best. Thank you.
