SUSPECTED “GRAY DEATH” RECOVERED DURING SEARCH WARRANT
On July 25, 2022, the Directed Patrol Unit of the New Iberia Police Department executed a Narcotics Search Warrant at a residence located in the 1100 block of Rene Street. The investigation was initiated after a concerned citizen reported suspected illegal narcotics activity.
During a search of the residence, approximately 1.3 ounces of suspected co***ne, 8 grams of suspected gray death, 5-1/2 pills of suspected sildenafil citrate, 3 packets of suspected suboxone, and 2 ounces of suspected ma*****na were located.
Cedric Demouchet, 52 years old of New Iberia, was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS, Monies derived from CDS Activities, Possession of CDS in a Drug-Free Zone, Possession of a Schedule I CDS, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Legend Drug, Possession of a Schedule III CDS, and Second or Subsequent Drug Offenses.
Assistance was provided by the Investigations, Patrol, Professional Standards, and K-9 Divisions.

Information can be reported anonymously by calling the New Iberia Police Department at (337) 369-2306 or the Iberia Parish Crimestoppers at (337) 364-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted by downloading the P3 app on your smart device.

Congratulation to Sergeant Daesha Hughes of the New Iberia Police Department. Sergeant Hughes was recognized as the Optimist Club’s Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
Sergeant Hughes joined the New Iberia Police Department on June 18, 2018. Sergeant Hughes currently supervises the department’s Juvenile Division and School Resource Officers. Sergeant Hughes is also the department’s Public Information Officer and coordinator for Iberia Parish Crimestoppers.
Sergeant Hughes serves with honor, professionalism, integrity, and compassion. Sergeant Hughes continuously strives for nothing less than success and is always willing to go above and beyond.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for help in finding a missing teen. Peyton Durocher, 16, was last seen on Thursday, March 19, in the 1300 block of Dubois Road in Iberia Parish. He was reported as a runaway.
